What's your kick-back-and-enjoy summer cocktail of choice? And where were you when you last enjoyed it?
martini’s are for winter (and it’s gin with a suggestion of vermouth - the abuse of the word martini is troubling to me) but after Memorial Day, it’s gin and tonics for me
I also like here and there tequila over ice with lime, a summer sangria from Brazil (champagne, orange dry, cointreau, gin, green apples and ice), lemonade and vodka, or cosmo’s

What Is Dick Cheney Thinking? Peggy Rometo Speaks
I wish the media would stop speaking with him but controversy sells ads so on it goes
Cheney lacks credibility with me, ever since he chaired the VP committee to see who would run with W and then said "okay, it should be me since i found no other candidate" -huh?
He has wanted to go back to Iraq ever since Bush Sr wisely left when he did - The Atlantic has done many research reports on this - so on 9.12.01 Powell has spoken of his shock that Cheney and Rummy said "let’s invade Iraq" - huh?
Calling people traitors if they objected to the Iraq War but now it’s okay for him to go on international media arenas and do the same?
Looking for legal loopholes to ensure the President had close to absolute powers? huh? this is not what we were founded upon - as a Republican, he did the opposite of what the party stood for, he made government bigger
His involvement with Halliburton and the oil industry just made those situations so skeevy - I work in government and I live with the ethics that "if it looks iffy, even if it’s clean, don’t do it"
I don’t think Obama is naive; he’s brilliant and he’s working night and day, don’t worry -
I didn’t feel safe under the Bush Administration and 9.12.01 was a sad day, yes, it was amazing how the city of NY and DC pulled together, how people in Canada opened their homes to passengers on grounded planes - the human interest stories are plentiful and wonderful - but alot of death and destruction occurred for no reason the day previous so I wouldn’t really say I was proud - now if we had stayed in Afghanistan, got Bin Laden, then okay - but no, we had to go into a country that didn’t attack us and get rid of their bad guy instead
I don’t blame Clinton or Bush for 9.11.01, that’s unfair - middle east relations and policies have been a slippery slope of bad judgements since the 40’s so everyone is to blame if we must assign blame - what is important is how we move forward from here
I don’t know how I feel about interrogation methods, to be honest - but the whole genesis of the GITMO creation was what bugged me - again a loophole was found that if we detained them there then they would not be subject to the same fair and impartial hearing that other human beings receive if they are suspected of a crime - that is creepy
so sorry, for al lthe reasons stated above - Cheney is creepy and I am sick of the media attention on him and I do think, using the same rationale he used in his administration (it was really his after all) that he is a traitor - his speeches are just saving himself from Amnesty International

In a cool coincidence, my brother, my sister and I all had the same speaker, different colleges, different years - Mario Cuomo - he was fantastic! I love that guy and miss him! I was so happy he was my speaker!
