yes, in all honesty, John the 23rd really rocked - when they were choosing this latest Pope, i prayed they would choose a South or Central American just to shake things up - but alas, it’s not up to me…

I am from Maine and there was a huge swell of support to Obama expressed to the Maine Senators directly so it’s great to see they are listening!

As a Roman Catholic, I did scratch my head a little when he first announced this guy coming back - I was happy the German Chancellor made the effort to step in (I’d like to know more about her actually) and talk to him and I am glad the Pope asked for this guy to recant. - I think this Pope, and this only my impression, unlike other Popes he is much more hands-on than his predecessor - before, the Pope was a big picture kind of guy, saving the world kind of thing, leaving the day to day work to others (and see how well they did) - where this Pope is much more into the daily operations at the Holy See because that’s what he did before becoming the Pope (which can also make you disconnected from your fold - anyone that’s been to the Basilica knows this - I mean, why would you ever leave?) - the problem with that is that he doesn’t have the Cardinal screening of issues, people, events and such that the Pope usually gets some benefit from so he is finding his way and he’s got a lot going on and I hope he travels more to see the Church in practice - it’ll be fine, the Church won’t fall apart in a day

I missed the whole Presidential remark - I do feel bad for anyone that has personal troubles that we all go through put on the front page of magazines

I feel different only in the fact that if they knew they couldn’t do it live like everything else that day, then why do it? why not have a White House concert at Kennedy Center with them at another date/time? It’s not the subject of performance on the President nor should it be controversial in these times, but more on the party planners, why did they even do this if it really couldn’t be done?

I wish he would do something constructive to clean up the mess he made - like work for the veteran’s or something - Jimmy Carter is the role model for what to do when you get out but George Bush doesn’t have the drive for that sort of thing so yeah, like others have said, he should go hide out somewhere in Texas

LOL, yeah, right! what a shame, really - I was always a big Bill fan all along but he really soured me during the campaign - he needs to find a new direction, ala Jimmy Carter - this is the hazard of electing young presidents I guess - they don’t know quite what to do with themselves once they get out of office and given his wife is still well connected inside the beltway, it makes it that much worse for him - but yeah, his foundation isn’t enough, he needs to go do something with himself -
