Ann Coulter Explains Palin's Exit

The only things about Palin that are bigger than Alaska are her ambition and her ego. She’s the only person I can think of who I would be more ashamed of having as president of this country than I was of Bush.

Margo Howard, Ann Coulter Miraculously Agree: Palin Too Big for Alaska

"The Left is against" being told how they should live their lives according to the absurd doctrines of an archaic belief system by people either ignorant enough to actually believe it or corrupt enough to exploit it for personal gain. (i.e. the republican party)

Will the Bush/Cheney presidential ticket be the last all-white-men ticket?

If the two white males are anything like those two I hope we don’t see it again. I think the two best people for the jobs should be on the ticket PERIOD.

Whatever Happened to Discretion?

The "Christian Right", "Moral Majority" , etc. making the republican party and every office that one of them holds a pulpit from which to spew their self-righteous, fire and brimstone nonsense is what happened to discretion.

From the time Jim Baker gave his tear filled, penitent apology for is "indiscretion" it’s become the standard. You know that’s a principal of most of those religions. If you kneel before God(in the case of politicians "God" is their party’s voters", repent your sins(the more tears and wailing the better) and beg forgiveness you can be washed in the blood of the lamb and go on to sin another day.

Those southern christian wingnuts that are the majority of the republican base like the spectacle of seeing them "baring their souls before God".

America's Getting Fatter: Mississippi, Southern States Among Nation's Worst Offenders

I agree with you completely SG. Even though Virginia isn’t listed as one of the states with the highest obesity rates I’m sure that’s because of the imbalance of the statistics for the affluent northern and eastern counties as compared to the impoverished southern and western ones.

Fast food isn’t necessarily the only culprit though. It plays a part but I believe the biggest problem is the food culture of southern poverty. Fatty fried meats and potatoes, heavy breads, and "sawmill" gravy are staples of their diets. Children are raised never eating a fresh vegetable unless their family happens to raise a garden. Then they only eat them during the season and cooked to mush in hog fat. The only time they have fresh fruit is as a holiday treat.

Overindugence and "urges" play much less a part in it than poverty and ignorance.

Should violence against medical doctors who perform abortions be viewed and prosecuted as domestic terrorism?

Of course it was absolutely an act of domestic terrorism by a right wing extremist just as surely as was the Oklahoma City bombing by Timothy McVeigh.

President Obama to Pitch Health-Care Plan to American Medical Association, But Will It Sell? (Video)

"Fox went to court to defend their right to LIE to their viewers….and WON."    By ~ countrywoman ~ on 06/16/2009 3:25 pm

But you see, their viewers see them as fair and balanced because they’re just as unbalanced as FOX.

President Obama to Pitch Health-Care Plan to American Medical Association, But Will It Sell? (Video)

The reps have been having their discussion for the last 25 years of corporate health care. It’s not even health care anymore. It’s health exploitation. They, the corporate insurance and health care barons, are using one of the most fundamental basic needs of humanity as a means of garnering personal wealth.

If we were paying half the amount of our health insurance premiums in health care taxes rather than putting it in some insurance company CEO’s off shore bank account we could make health care about actually caring for peoples’ health again.

I don’t see how anybody with any realistic common sense about them can fail to see that even though the jobs lost from the health insurance industries will be unfortunate for the working people in those companies, that’s not nearly as many jobs as were lost so that the CEO’s of the steel, textile, furniture, appliance and electronics manufacturing companies could get obscenely wealthy off of cheap foreign labor.

Anybody with any humanity about them should be able so see that saving lives through adequate health care should outweigh saving jobs through corporate greed. If those insurance CEOs cared as much about saving jobs as they do about garnering personal wealth they could put a bit of that wealth back into the businesses instead of into off shore tax shelters and switch from life and health to property and liability and/or financial services and save a few jobs.

We’ve got to stop letting the corporate right exploit our very lives for their greed.

Poll: Republicans Reject Rush as Party Leader

Rush has been the personification of republican campaign tactics in the last three elections. It seems only natural for him to ooze into the void of leadership in that party. He’s the biggest, loudest and meanest bully in a party of bullies.

The MBAs of the Meltdown – Where Did Those Bankers Go to Business School?

" while investment bankers have always used other people’s money for investing, this crop lets their customers assume all risk and get paid last, while they assumed virtually no risk and paid themselves first.  And they see nothing wrong with that.  The only difference between these bankers and those of the past was that previous generations had things like a conscience and a sense of shame." By Lila Kuh on 03/04/2009 8:42 am And that’s about it in (or under) a nutshell with the Bush regime not just ignoring the Wall Street shell game, but in fact facilitating it.

Robert Gibbs Fires Back at Jim Cramer's Stock Statement

"we do think the current climate may be a bit more complicated than simply watching the stock ticker"

That it most certainly is. The stock market as it exists today reflects nothing relative to the real economy of this country. All the numbers game on Wall Street is telling us is the mood of Wall Street.

I sympathize with the current and former working middle class people who still have 401Ks that they’re losing due to this, but those people are the minority on Wall Street. I sympathize with the middle class workers in the financial institutions who are losing their jobs now due to the unethical practices of their company execs, but no more so than I do with the 4.2 manufacturing workers who lost their jobs between 2000 and 2004 while their former corporate employers paid themselves billions, paid no taxes and made the stock market reflect a false economy while putting Americans out of work.

Wall Street is run by and for the corporate barons and they are pretty much irrelevant to the real American economy since they moved all of the American jobs to Asia. They’re not providing jobs here. They’re not saving jobs here. They don’t invest their billions back into their own companies to keep them solvent. They don’t even keep their money in the banks here.

President Obama is rebuilding a sound economic infrastructure with jobs rebuilding America’s infrastructure. He’s providing for our long term economic future by making health care and education available to and affordable for our future generations.

He’s bringing down the deficit by making those who took so much from America in jobs and corporate tax cuts put some of it back into America by paying the taxes they should have always been paying.

Wall Street is their neighborhood. They’re not going to turn it into a slum. Once they see that their threats and temper tantrums aren’t going to make this President dance to their tune they’ll change it to one a lot more harmonious.

Until then let them dance to their own music eat cake.

Jim Cramer on Obama's Economic Abilities: 'It’s Amateur Hour at Our Darkest Moment' (Videos)

By Republican 4Life on 03/03/2009 4:30 pm“So true. I’m so sick of libs saying we have to make sure that people get a good education so that we can be competitive. The cream always rises to the top, and the people who matter will make sure that their children get good educations.” Exactly!!! It’s the riff raff getting above their stations and thinking they deserve to be educated like REAL American’s that’s brought this country down to this level.   “And health care costs will only drag the economy down if we let them by subsidizing people who have been too lazy or ignorant to make sure that they can afford insurance on their own.”  Absolutely right on the mark again. They should have planned for their job loss as soon as our dear President Brush was elected. They had to have known we couldn’t afford to let our CEOs lose their billion dollar bonuses just to keep jobs in this country. Why what would have happened to Wall Street if those good old boys weren’t making billions? It’s their own fault they were such irresponsible planners. “The only jobs that really count in stimulating the economy are the true jobs that are created by capitalism at its purest. Jobs in the public sector, healthcare, education and the like don’t do A THING to stimulate the economy.”    Truer words were never spoken. Why, the only place to make a decent, respectable living is in stocks, bonds, futures, hedge funds, etc. Then you can hire household help with a medical degree who’s immigrated illegally because of a tyrannical revolution in their country.  “The people in those jobs might just as well be unemployed and homeless, for all the good they do for the economy.”

Well, there again, maybe we could hire some of them as nannies, gardeners and such. They could take care of everybody in our families and there’s and live in the little shack out behind the big house. No need for any health care costs at all.

"Well, Cramer is OBVIOUSLY right now, since he is criticizing Obama.  No further proof is needed for anyone who has logical thinking processes, as Miss Deber, Miss Libra Lady, and so many other righteous Christians on this site do."

You tell’em Sis/Bro Christian. All you need to know about anybody in this hellacious time is that they’re against that "(wink-wink)" in the White House and they call upon the name of our precious Lord Jesus to know they’re REAL Americans.

Rush Limbaugh Bungles 'Constitution' Quote

By CYNTHIA NEIL on 03/03/2009 9:06 am

"the economy has gone from responding to Bush policies to Obama intentions"

The circumstance to which the market is now required to respond was brought on by Bushideonomics. It wouldn’t exist were it not for him and "The Party’s" economic "trickle down" hypotheses (you can’t call it a theory because it’s yet to be proven valid).

What the market is reacting to is the tantrums of the people who control it, that being Wall Street. The ousting of their "Party" by the American people meant the end of their tax cuts. This new president was going to make sure all of the American people were treated fairly instead of catering to the upper 1% (meaning Wall Street).

At first they went into a snit because the stimulus package didn’t focus on them like TARP did. Then they went into a full blown tantrum when the new administration dared to insist on oversight and accountability over the second half of TARP and dropped some more. Then, OMG, they might actually take control of Citibank.

Now they finally get something their way. AIG got another bailout, but they (the Wall Street barons), along with their media partners, have sent out so many signals of gloom and doom in their effort to hold the economy hostage that they may just have lost control of the situation.

They need to just GET OVER IT. It’s not your "Party" anymore.
