NY Attorney General Cuomo: Bank of America Must Come Clean About Merrill Lynch Bonuses
Great post Ms. Dee.
For some reason though the repugs think coporate greed, fraud, welfare and are what we need more of in the form of tax cuts for them.
When it’s the former working/middle class they call it pork or handouts.
Rush Limbaugh Wonders Why He Can't Get More Women
What he’s really lacking is listeners who are sane and rational. Except for the relatively few who are of the "can’t help staring at the train wreck" variety, they’re all rapid, right wing, repug, radicals.
Obama Announces Budget, Republicans Unimpressed
Do you think the press should be allowed to publish photos of slain soldiers' coffins as they're brought back to the U.S.?
Absolutely and I also believe that this war may very well have been ended it the public was seeing the atrocities as they were with the Vietnam war. It was a lot easier for Bush/Cheney to paint their personal war with a noble brush when the information the people got was being carefully filtered. All of their secrecy about it was a crime for which they should be prosecuted, but dishonoring the memories of those soldiers was the most egregious of their crimes of omission.
Liz Smith Leaves the NY Post for wowOwow!
I’m glad you’ll be giving us more of yourself Liz because you’re one of the few reasons I can find to come visit this site anymore.
I hear ya Suzanne and those same people are the reasons I’m spending most of my on line time at Huff Post these days.
The same paid republican trolls are also posting over there and on most other forums where political discussions routinely occur, but they’re so far outnumbered and so ridiculed by the Huff Post bloggers that they’re a bit easier to take.
I will continue to stop by here though to read Liz and respond in some of the interesting polls. That is, until it becomes too overwhelmingly rank with right wing radical whackos. I can’t tolerate Coulter Crowley and after the last article I read by Peek I don’t think I care to read any more of them.
Liz Smith: Oscar Parties And ... Octomom (Gloria Allred Wants To Help Nadya Suleman)
The White House signaled this week that the government may look for a larger stake in propped up bank. Is this ...
"That’s what worries me about nationalization the rest of the Madoffs and Stanfords will be protected by their buddies in government… once again on my dime."
By CYNTHIA NEIL on 02/24/2009 8:24 amCynthia, that’s exactly what happened to the first $350 billion that Bush and Paulson handed to Wall Street. President Obama’s administration isn’t allowing that to happen under their watch. That’s why the stock market is dropping. It’s the financial barons flexing the muscle they had under their buddies in the Bush regime. I think President Obama is treating them sort of like parents sometimes have to treat their two year olds when they don’t get their way and pitch a tantrum. He’s letting them get over it in a controlled circumstance. He knows they’re very unlikely to seriously hurt themselves so he’s letting them kick and scream.
It’s a shame that some innocent people who are still lucky enough to have 401Ks have to be hurt by their selfish tantrums, but there aren’t likely to be as many hurt as badly by it now as there were when Bush traded millions of American jobs to his corporate baron buddies to make the stock market go up.
When bankers, like some spoiled children, behave like selfish bullies, then somebody has to put some them into the "naughty chair" of nationalization until they learn to play fair and get along with the rest of America.

By Marva Marva on 02/23/2009 12:05 am Ummm, Ditto.Liz Peek: Stock Market Gives Obama’s First Month An 'F'
OMG, the whole republican party appears to be adopting the Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, Swiftboater strategy.
That being: If you continue to spew something loud enough, often enough and long enough you can make ignorant people believe it’s true.
Since they’re reaching out to the poorest and most uneducated and most unsophisticated of the republican party it works.

Of course they do. He didn’t open the money bags and let them stuff their pockets like Bush did.
Attorney General Eric Holder said the U.S. is a 'nation of cowards' when it comes to discussing race. Do you agree?
In some ways the election of President Obama indicates a lessening of the overall degree of white racism in this country.
In some ways it also seems to have brought about a lessening in the overall degree of black racism by showing that white people can respect and trust a respectable, trustworthy black man enough to make him our President.
In some ways it could indicate that there’s less racial bias than gender bias.
In some ways it has brought out the closet racists, and the worst in the overtly racist, both black and white.
In some ways the election of President Obama has made it easier for some people to feel free not to ignore racism. By that I mean not so many times one might have to walk away from a racially toned conversation rather than express distaste for it.
In some ways it indicates the overall degree of disgust this country has for what Bush and the republicans have done to us.
In some ways some of the things that we’ve done as a demonstration of the promotion of equality have back-lashed and fostered resentment. There is no W.E.T channel, there is no John Kennedy day, there is no Jewish History month, you never hear press 2 for “an Asian language” on phone options, we haven’t proposed having bi-lingual teachers or translators in classrooms for the children for whom Tagalog is their primary language, we don’t refer to people of other descents as “fill in the ______”- Americans, and there isn’t a requisite Robert Kennedy bridge, street or park in virtually every incorporated community of more than 10,000 in the south.
I understand why these measures are important to the people for whom they are intended, but I also think it can in some cases further emphasizes differences and foster resentment.
If there was no racism nothing I said in this post would be true, but all of it is and I don’t think we’re cowards for not talking about it. I think recognition and suspicion of differences among humans is as natural and inherent as it is among other species. The evolution of our intelligence and reasoning ability temper it, but our preposterously politically correct culture has made it taboo to talk about it. That tends to make the representatives of the taboo subject also seem taboo and negate the reasoning of our intelligence.
In some ways the election of President Obama has brought us to a place where we can have discussions about race such as the one in this thread. I think that most of us in this thread could sit down around a table over coffee (or tea) and have this same discussion in person as long as the discussion stayed racial rather than political.
The biggest division in this country right now isn’t between ethnic groups, it’s between political parties.
