Pelosi in Rome: Stimulus' 'Buy American' Provision Not 'Protectionist' (Video)

If America doesn’t “protect” it’s workers and thereby it’s economy who will? Brazil and China damned sure won’t.

Alexandra Pelosi: Don't Judge All Republicans (Video)

OMG, you are a very deluded person Robert. I wish I could pity you, but I can’t because you scare me. No rational person could believe such tripe.

Dear President Obama: No One Voted for Despair and Change

And they’re very frightening too DeB. They, much more so than the cost of the stimulus package, make me fear for the future of my grandchildren.

That was a great segment Lesley. The difference between the point of view of the President of the steel mill and that of Caterpillar was so obvious. The fact that 75% of Caterpillar’s business is overseas is all the proof anybody needs that America’s economy and infrastructure is being allowed to crumble on behalf of the bank accounts of the CEOs. The report about World Savings was also enlightening for anybody who wants to be enlightened rather than justified.

Lesley Stahl Asks: Has Public Outrage on Excess Reached 'Tipping Point'?

Sorry, I posted this in the wrong Leslie thread.(blushing with embarrassment)

Uncomfortable With Obama's Plans, Judd Gregg Withdraws Commerce Bid

I think Obama does know enough, but we have such contempt from the right on all fronts and they are hell bent on not trying to work with him…not for their concern for the country either it’s just their way of showing how they must all stick together and show the new guy just who he is dealing with.” By caj p on 02/15/2009 10:43 am So much for honorable intentions. If I didn’t see these people actually rationalizing and justifying their actions I wouldn’t believe anybody could be so oblivious to the reality of the intentions of their chosen party.

Thank you Deni G for the information on the real and valid reasons for Hillary’s trip. I just wanted you to know that not everybody ignored it like the reps chose to do. They do that to all posts that they can’t twist, spin or otherwise convolute to their advantage.

Exactly what I was going to say Alias. I think this guy is absolutely right. The selling out of the steel industry in this country was the beginning of the end of our economic strength.

Republicans Wage Battle With Pelosi Again – Over a Mouse?

Starry, as if we needed any more proof that the republican party doesn’t have the best interests of the country at heart, they’re handing us plenty now. The way they’ve distorted the facts about the appropriation of funding in this bill is tantamount to bold face lying. But then, Bush/Cheney has been lying to them for eight years while Limbaugh, Hannity and Coulter drill their divisive drivil into their brains. Maybe they’ve become so inured to lies that they really don’t know the difference anymore.

Lesley Stahl Asks: Has Public Outrage on Excess Reached 'Tipping Point'?

g c, What so many republicans/conservatives don’t seem to understand is that there are a lot of philosophical variations between equal rights and socialism. This country was founded on the philosophy that all of the people should have an equal right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Those rights, for the biggest faction of our population, the former middle class, have been infringed upon to the point of domination by the corporate robber barons who have bought and are in return being facilitated by the republican party. At this point, restricting the earnings those robbers are allowed to make isn’t socialism, it’s righting a social wrong and tipping the scales of equality back to what was intended by the founders of our government. Our country fought to get out from beneath the domination of the ruling, wealthy, entitled class in England. Now it seems as though the republican party is trying to maneuver us right back into that type of society. They are enabling, facilitating the establishment of a wealthy, entitled elite who dominate all policy and law making in this country. Nobody is even discussing putting caps on any salaries that aren’t being supplemented by taxpayer money. Yet, the republicans are screaming socialism because we object to paying for their extravagance while so many are losing their very livelihoods through no fault of their own. They are screaming socialism when it’s suggested that perhaps those who are amassing(nobody EARNS that much) millions should have to pay a tax relatively equal to that which the former middle class was paying. This country got into this condition because those who had the most were required to pay the relative least of their worth in taxes. They actually got tax breaks to put American workers out of work. How can anybody condone that let alone think it is good for the economy of this country? No, if all things were equal we should not restrict anybody’s right to proper to the best of their ability. But, that’s exactly what the policies of the republican party have done. They have restricted the rights of 12 million Americans to earn a living wage by rewarding the corporate elite for taking their jobs away. All we’re asking is that the scales be tipped back to equality of the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and then let it stay that way. No more government facilitating of inequality.

Thank you rocky. I hope everybody who follows the link to the picture takes the time to read the accompanying article and comments by the panel who selected it. The day before my agency closed for Christmas, we only worked half a day, we received two eviction orders. That means our guys had to do just what you see in that picture.

A liar and a crook?? Goodness darlin’ you supported one for 8 years already!” By Diana T on 02/14/2009 5:05 pm I was so hoping somebody would say that so I wouldn’t have to. Thanks Diana. I loved your previous post. It was as eloquent and elegant as your posts usually are, and then some.
