I am a recently retired landscape architect and , in the past, taught Herbaceous Perennials at the local university. Gardening is my passion and therepy! I just remarried and inheirted a rather uninspired landscape so I’m having a wonderful time. And working for myself is so much fun, and daunting! I love to combine vegetables, fruits and flowers in the same bed. Rhubarb, colorful Swiss Chard, alpine strawberrys, herbs, blueberrys, asparagus, and lots of perennials! Because of bunnies, I have to use chicken wire in areas where I plant green beans and lettuce, but it all works. Scarlet runner beans on a trellis mixed with clematis make a wonderful backdrop! Mix sweet peas with regular peas on a support! It’s all a little crazy in my yard but it’s not boring!! My husband shakes in his shoes when I head out to kill more grass. He loves his lawn! Poor man!!!

Well  - At least Lorena is concerned about being a safe driver!!

I was reminded of Kate Smith, also, But I  hated her voice! This woman sings so truly and sweetly, it is like hearing an angel!! Angela, speaking of Howdy Doody, you were lucky to watch that show. My Mom decided that the show was evil and would kill my brain cells. ANd I loved Princess Winter Spring, etc!!!

Ladies, Just ignore the "boil on the butt of humanity"!!! He is not worth getting worked up about. (Sorry about the preposition at the end of the sentence!)

I think there is a common thread in so many of the responses. We have, perhaps, thought of doing something  like she did! I’m so sorry for the girls and the mother. But this is definitely a newspaper article I would have cut out and mounted on my girl’s bathroom mirror! I’m glad mine are grown and I let them live!!!

What a bunch of baloney!?!  What a grandstanding  offence to real women!?! She has a job and a good income. She is MARRIED. She engaged in unprotected sex.  So she does this cry baby - I’m so noble speech. Go shoot a moose, Governor Palin!!!!!!

Geeze Joan, So many disasters in your travels! Please keep me posted about your next trips - so I can make sure I’m not there! But what an exciting life you have lived!! I’m envious of the trips, but not the disasters.

These "Tea Parties" are so juvenile and petty. My Dad would have been so sad that Americans would act so stupidly, when they are all so priviledged. Another example of right-wing "welfare mentality", Gimme, Gimme, Gimme! I’m entitled to more than the average citizen!!! 

S.J., I get upset about how my tax dollars are spent, also. The "Dallas does Iraq" is repugnant, so I voted for Obama, as I feel he will find a righteous way out of this sinful war. Helping our country recover from the Republican excess with the economic stimulus package is a good move. Put us to work! Not all  of us are trust fund babies like George, The Stupid!
