Have you ever been fired?

I’ve been fired once while working two weeks only for a family-owned business. I was taken out for lunch by one of the managers who “confided” in me that he didn’t really want to fire me but he was forced to as one of the female staff that had been with the company since the beginning felt completely threatened by me…when I asked him why she felt that way, he told me that she couldn’t deal with the fact that I learned my job so quickly and didn’t require her to train me beyond two days…he also told me that I was the 7th employee to be hired and fired because of her in the previous 8 months. Needless to say, I thanked him for his honesty, rose from my chair (before lunch arrived), shook his hand and bid him a good day. Any company that allows one idiot employee to run others off like that is no place for me.

'How Lily and I Tried to Celebrate July the 4th'

PS: a little knowledge on sugar-subs…Aspartame is an actual poison on your body…Splenda follows a close second….any sugar sub other than Stevia (or other holistic natural substitute) is downright deadly for your body

'How Lily and I Tried to Celebrate July the 4th'

thank you for sharing…with a touch of humour as expected from you both (with the exeception of the long blurb at the end)….your relationship convo sounds similar to my own….you both remain a reason for me to give this site a bit more time and chance

Welcome to wowOwow and Thank You!

Although it’s only been a couple of days but since not much is going on at work these days, I’ve had plenty of spareness to cruise and peruse and, sadly, have had a change of heart and reduced enthusiasm towards my initial perception of this site. After reading almost the entire site, all comments, forums, topics…it’s so blatantly clear that there is a vast empty space that’s missing called “diversity”…diversity of culture, colour, religion, educational class and orientation…I learned about this site from pro-accolades on AfterEllen.com…a GLBT site. However, other than myself…I have not seen a shred of any diversity amongst women, nevermind even approaching the orientation issue and seeing gay-oriented topics up for discussion. Sadly, I remain feeling like the predatory gay-kitty amongst a sea of white milk…and milk is so bad for kitties, don’t you know. So much for expectations. Sorry ladies.

Where are you putting your money? Stocks? Bonds? Real estate? Under the mattress?

hmmmm….$Paycheque - Rent - Bills - Food - Single Mom w/Kids = $0.00

What do 'spirits' mean to you?

PS….btw, that doesn’t make you a ‘dolt’…lol

What do 'spirits' mean to you?

Hi Kimba. Did you try: from the home page, click on the link to the poll question…there ‘should’ be the option of Liquor and Ghosts…I do know you can’t vote twice. Good luck!

PRINCESS DIANA! Remember Her?

QUOTE: “Typical insecure ugly-man mama’s-boy whiny pee-pants antics.” God, i LOVE that! lol….and so very true. That was great, Mamacita G. To this day, I still cry when I think of the beautiful woman lost to this world and her amazing sons…thank goodness her legend lives on inside of them and in our hearts.

Which Irish artists have inspired you? Why and how?

Anything Irish sits well with me ;-) I relish in the culture, the people, the history, the artists, musicians, actors, culinary….I adore Ireland herself.

wOw Announces Winners to 'Women on Mt. Rushmore' Question of the Day

With the exception of agreeing with Karyn’s comment on the diversity of women artists, writers, etc. that could have been voted on, the women that were voted for are solid choices with the exception of Hillary Clinton…as a Canadian, I fear for ALL U.S. citizens with this political race that is on…..not only does Hillary have a questionable background on many issues but she has also taken a firm and highly anti-gay stance in her political/personal beliefs.

wOw Announces Winners to 'Women on Mt. Rushmore' Question of the Day

i wholeheartedly agree with your view on this Karyn….

Whoopi Goldberg to Dr. Laura: Are You Crazy? Don't Blame Eliot Spitzer's Wife

Dr. Laura needs to crawl back under the moldy rock she emerged from…what an archaic, sexist comment to make. I’m still shaking my head at this one.

Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing, Baby

With me, what you see is what you get…private or public…makes no difference…I where ‘varying’ (lol) shades of black every day of my life because first, it’s highly attractive on this blonde; it provides me with much needed inner strength and power; and it allows me to remain inconspicuous…I abhor standing out in the crowd. I’ve been told numerous times, including by my mother, that my aura alone propels those in a room of who I am. I prefer a silent nature to speak for me.

Funny. Wise. Deep.

Candice, Candice, Candice…always you have been a favourite with your smart wit and strikingly good looks despite you being hetero! LOL You remain a true inspiration of womanhood…..so happy that you were able to find such wonderful deep love in the latter part of life and even more thrilled to know you are here, contributing to this amazing forum of women. To Debra Oster….my heart, sincerely, goes with you, dear friend. Although I was the one who left my marriage after 20 yrs, the pain was still vast. It was not easy for me to hurt someone despite the abuse that was inflicted on me. Give yourself time to heal…first and foremost, take care of yourself. Ensure your heart relays to you, every single day, what an amazing, wonderful woman you are…that this break up will be a new opportunity for new direction…new path…new adventures ahead and that your age is not a deterrent…don’t allow it to be one. Give yourself time, patience and foremost, kindness and love of thyself. Good things, including love, will follow naturally once the healing of your own self has been finalized.

QUOTE: “I have to say, though, that there’s one thing I don’t care for. The “Star signs” stuff displayed so prominently; surely in this day and age we’re past superstitious nonsense like that? Astrology has been disproven so often that I can no more imagine taking it seriously than I can imagine consulting chicken entrails to see how my day will go. And to make it a leading feature on a site purportedly for intelligent women is really just insulting (that and “bad hair days”? Really? Is this Cosmo?) I know, I know: it’s most likely labeled “for entertainment purposes only” somewhere - but really, aren’t there more entertaining things we can all share in? I’d be disappointed to know that any of those inspiring, talented women pictured on the front page allows her personality to be summed up in a few clichéd phrases.” Ahhh…the joys of free speech…I was very excited to learn, on AfterEllen, about this site with new hopes and inspirations of a postive geared forum for intelligent women but had my smile fade quickly at such negative comments portrayed as above. As a strong believer in the ‘proven’ nature of astrology to assist in guiding us in our everyday journies, perhaps the reader who quoted should do a wee bit more research on the topic as well as try to maintain a more ‘positive’ and ‘light hearted’ attitude to what this site is about…information, chatter, intelligent topics and discussions and, foremost, entertainment….frankly, I think the “Hair Day Weather” and daily forecast are a simple way of adding humour and entertainment. I wonder, at this point, if that same quoted member has such strong, negative feelings about varying sexual orientation that she will, most assuredly, find plenty of on this site. Regardless, you all are amazing women and your inspiration to us is greatly welcomed. always, ‘wicked’ ;-)
