Life in the Little Lane: Edith Ann on Wishing

I posted the Billie Collins piece; esther-another one i love is “On Being Ten”-he is one of my very favorite poets; i adore him; also love Roger White, who has had several books out; He lived in Haifa, at the Baha’i World Centre, and his book Witness of Pebbles or Witness too; shivers with fineness; I love Sandra Cisneros too; could go on, but won’t;

one ringy dingy, two ringy dingy - affirmative wishes you’d write more; that is the truty

What do men not know about women?

I love this poem by Billy Collins-I adore his work; it sums up relationships rather whimsically! Man in Space All you have to do is listen to the way a man sometimes talks to his wife at a table of people and notice how intent he is on making his point even though her lower lip is beginning to quiver, and you will know why the women in science fiction movies who inhabit a planet of their own are not pictured making a salad or reading a magazine when the men from earth arrive in their rocket, why they re always standing in a semicircle with their arms folded, their bare legs set apart, their breasts protected by hard metal disks. From The Art of Drowning, Billy Collins

That we both, men and women, are the two wings of a bird; you need both to fly; we’ll be much happier when we realize that and also, when women enter the council chambers and share on equal footing, their ideas, the world will mature. I would also like more substantive questions; i feel the questions, perhaps well meant, are pretty shallow.

Who Is She? Part Two

I agreed with Suzanne. Aaargh, ack, ack, ack. It makes me feel as if the organizers of this website think we women out here have brains like old basements, with large cavernous spaces in which one can only place simple phrases with an occasional multisyllabic thought. Are we on Pinnochio’s Island?

Who won last night's debate in Philadelphia?

Millions hunger, rhetoric continues. No wonder the need for principle and integrity stands out.

'We Used to Never Acknowledge Them, Today They're Our Badges of Success'

Working Stiff was good and Ben Cheevers book-can’t remember title about working; delightful! I was wondering about the emptiness of the topics of late and yet i don’t want to judge. I watched Housewives of New york; real housewives, and i was astounded at their level of topical; one lady helped causes, but i wondered; what are people reading these days; has anyone read Oriah Mountaindreamer, “I don’t care, …basically how we get through life, got through it. Who loves what book; my world is busy; all ages, types, color and people who talk about substantive things. I was surprised at the bi-sexual God; particularly when the concept of God is so far above our understanding; i feel we are becoming a gossipy society. Dunno

'wOw Friend' Mary Jane Clark on Her Undying Love for CBS News

I wishb Katie Couric good luck. Her timing, pace and outlook didn’t seem like a newscaster. She’s very talented and hopefully she will find her niche. I assume her news time has been horrendous for her. I am grateful for 60 Minutes; I loved Ed Bradley, and I like all the other people. Regarding basic news I watch the Newshour, and check in on the net for a variety of viewpoints I loved Peter Jennings. I like Brian Williams and Charlie Gibson. I love Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Admittedly TV news has gone down, and it must be horrendously difficult on those good journalists. So much ego spouting. Here’s something I wrote, going into my next book regarding the news and life in general. Before the Golden Age Elizabeth Vargas bids goodbye from the news –Wait, how is Peter Jennings? Now I know of his kind heart, his last days, his frailty-but what of his regrets about those last cigarettes? Nine eleven - my fingers probe memory’s silt, Braille the reality of those days, find Terror’s Dullard Cousin Disbelief Our earth stood still on nine eleven. Together in cylindrical need we lurched towards one another a oneness prayer, no words or syllables or sounds United, until the politicians like Crows from New Jersey, fat cigars hanging from their mouths, carped, scavenged and hawked their way up ladders of avarice and greed. “The necks of men are stretched out in malice.”* Crows cavorted long back halls of politically elite and Power’s salacious divide. Language used for dark reptilian thoughts separate, the enemy, the other The Crows, did I say crows? I meant Boys, Boys at play, like Gargoyles in a game Crocodiles shopping for dental twine. *Baha’i Writings

Mugsy, to my great regret, I was a discipline problem in Latin, and the teacher, a great one, said, “Bradley, I’ll pass you if you promise never to take me again.” I was relieved, because the only thing I passed that Sophomore year was Health - 2 points. I made it all up and graduated with A’s and B’s, but still I read a lot, but the Latin would have come in handy!

Mary Wells Says This Gaudi-Gehry Experience You Have to Have

One more thing: I wonder if the next Reality Show will be Lions in a ring, and then unfortunates cast in, and the prize will be graded: How Much did it hurt (survivors only); On a pain level of 1-10, what was it, and How does it feel not to have a foot? Anything to divert the American Public

When I think of immigration, I think of this book Do they hear you when you cry / Fauziya Kassindja and Layli Miller Bashir.
