A 'How-To' Video Made for the Technically-Challenged

Mugsy, that gives new meaning to “You don’t look a day older.”

Who Is She?

He probably is having an affair. That’s horrendous for either party, but they have bee married for 28 years, have a wonderful girl, and need to communicate. Rather reptilian to leap to fight or flight, natural, but a wiser course is to find time to talk and do so. If she has to tell him about fixing an appliance after a late evening, perhaps she needs to look at herself. Counseling is always my clarion call. Counseling, counseling, counseling. Then they have to find what animates them, their mutual and individual purposes in life. It happens, and before blame is assigned, sides taken, they need to really look at themselves and also their marriage. Saw you all on Charlie Rose-way to go; i love him too! Intelligence and authenticity in journalism, wow, what a concept! thank goodness for people who are real!

What Happens to Us After We Die?

It’s a journey, and we are soul and body, a relationship which lasts for this time here on Planet Earth. The body returns to dust, and the soul goes on to other worlds of God. You bring only the good you have done, i.e., for me that’s service to humankind, promoting the concept of oneness of humanity, onenes of God, of religion (verities of each Faith are true), abolition of prejudice, equality of science and religion and women and men and more. I think this WOW website is to offer, and so anything I say is to consider. “Consider” is the operative word. I wrote a piece about death when my twin died last year and will include it. But an analogy first, when we are embryos, we acquire the senses, etc., and this earth is a workshop, not an art gallery, where through our actions, we acquire spiritual attributes, love of God and love of mankind being pivotal. There is a purpose to this day and age, and if interested, i suggest you check out this website, and also books like The Purpose of Physical Reality, John Hatcher and any of the Writings of Baha’u’llah. Baha’u’llah refers to death as a “Messenger of Joy.” I am a Baha’i of 40 some years, and I offer this. One must independently investigate truth. http://www.bahai.org/ 1-800-22-unite. That said, here’s the poem which is going into my next book, Writing On The Fly, still working it - smile The Color of Death This was an exercise for teaching writing. It was nice to try it. I wanted to say it was fun; but that might shock those who knew my twin just passed. But heck yes, lightness of being, the unbearable lightness of being is a grand idea. If death were a color it would be a rainbow, with the black starting first just as so not to surprise the writer who is in for a notice of change. Death ain’t what you thought it would be baby. And it would be varied and graded like all us creatures in the world; shades of grey in thinking; no geometric black and white What’s wrong with “this is the only way?” Nope, it wouldn’t have an only one way color; and it would taste like medicine at first, but it would be like riding the Ferris Wheel higher than ever before And if death were a feeling, it would be like my tummy going on a big bump, jumping up high inside, but skipping down in delight and finding out, not all bumps are meant to hurt and give new meaning to bumped up. Yep, bumped up to the higher ways of intricate oneness Death would feel light and like bouncy, bouncy bally, a verse uttered by nine year olds in schoolyards past, and it would be as sturdy as a red rubber ball needed to be in the school yard and smell sort of rubbery, familiar like with maybe a touch of vanilla, because Vanilla soothes the senses, don’t you know? And inside, the smell would make me feel just oh so safe, and if death were a sound, it would be echoes of kids in ages past shouting out beyond the sky, the stars and the moon, “Ollie Ollie Infrey,” Ready or not here I come http://www.bahai.org/

What signs, if any, of recession have you noticed?

I agree with you in theory, but Sunday I went with a friend to a local farmer’s market, and the prices are not low. The stuff is great though. I am finding that if I go to ethnic, i.e., Arabic, Armenian, etc. markets, my chances of good vegetables and fruits at an affordable price are good. There’s a lot I don’t buy unless it’s on sale. My husband clips stuff and his mother was a little old Italian Grocery Store Owner - so we do well. My heart goes out to people, the really poor. I’ll submit something later on the whole general tone.

What signs, if any, of recession have you noticed?

Peggy Sue, No, I don’t copy cd’s. Every artist, or most struggle. Just wanted you to know there are people out here in Grassroots Land who would honor you. The flip side of that is I have small income, and don’t buy a lot of things. Good luck.

Gypsy’s Personal Guide to Doctors, Drivers, Taxis, Shippers and Helicopters in the Med

Well, I thought the suggestions were great; it’s about networking, using our hunting and gathering skills in a different manner. I live in a 2-room pool house with my husband, and it’s wonderful. Different doors open, and adventure is there. Money is very nice, but without money, after a real financial reversal, we lived in Ukraine for a year (before, during and after the coup), and later Minsk, another year, and before that went to Siberia, and we were wealthy there. Of course a lot of times, there was no food; but our train rides (hell-but character building) were only 12 cents. Everything depends on your point of view; which doesn’t mean it’s not important to listen to the “midnight sighing of the poor.” I go to a consignment shop in town and found lovely red alligator pumps for 50 cents. I was raised in Boston, trained in Filene’s basement; bargain basement of the world, and learned how to cavort through the world on little when needed. It’s beyond the fringe and scary, but inwardly my world is terrific, and I am immensely grateful for everything. I wrote a book Without A Net: A Sojourn in Russia, and the 2nd edition has pic of a lady in a very big furry hat-that was after paying about $50,000 to the IRS and selling everything. A couple of years later some wonderful heart surgeon wrote of the fee for my aortic valve replacement. I like to recommend things that help people. Whether we have $ or no $, without a sous, it’s good to connect and hear what works!

Life in the Little Lane: Edith Ann on Having a Tantrum

joy in the morning; be still my heart

I Read the News Today, Oh Boy: Will Obama Prove Them Wrong?

I think there’s been a paradigm shift. Obama is capable of working across the aisle. He’s handled great slurs, and it is his integrity and capacity that draws people to him. Now, because I say he has integrity, doesn’t mean I don’t think he can’t handle the crocodiles and gargoyles of the world who are ever intent on wreaking havoc. He can deal with it I believe. It’s old hack language to use “Willy Horton,” and old political rhetoric. Both Clinton and McCain come from that background. I think the majority of the people are striving for higher levels of unity, behavior. I am white, 69 and drawn to Obama. I also am aware of all types of racism in this society: unaware, institutional (which is large) and individual. I believe in the oneness of the human race, and I believe we must change or become extinct. We’ve tried war for umpteen years, but humanity has a higher purpose. At least that’s how I read it. Thomas Friedman, interviewed by Charlie Rose said something to the effect that the people are aware. You can’t fool the people, or a goodly amount of them, with rhetoric. I think Obama has tremendous capacity, and the ability to have his own clear voice, and able to do critical thinking to the max. We do not always have this voice with our leaders. It is also time, for the nation to go beyond partisan politics. It is divisive, disunifying, and lives are at stake. If we continue on the same path as a nation, with corruption, rhetoric, unparalleled greed, much despair will become evident. Democracy is becoming the most abused word bandied about. Enuf said.

What the Hell Happened to Lara Flynn Boyle?

Does it matter. What’s the purpose of this website? How someone looks is a diversion from incredible things of substance in the real world. Is this what we want this time on the planet to be known as? Have we totally replaced any critical thinking with how stars look, what they say, do? It’s cruel to observe other people that way.

Pollster Dotty Lynch on the Presidential Race Right Now: Is it Slipping Away From Sen. Clinton?

I am white, 69, and vote nonpartisan. I don’t feel guilty at all. Both Obama and Clinton have revealed character or the lack thereof. I became turned off on Clinton when she started attacking Obama and impressed with Obama because he keeps his stuff to a higher level of integrity. How about the most momentous time in our history would be someone who has integrity, and would end the gargoyles’ and crocodiles’ rhetoric .This is a time I’m waiting for and many others. Doesn’t anyone see it. the old way just doesn’t work anymore. Don’t most people mistrust politicians. That said, the people who swarm around the next President should call themselves into account each day. This is about the maturation of the human race.

Who was more important to you, your father or your mother?

Definitely my mother, who knew how to love unconditionally. She had 4 children within 3 years, and I was a twin, and the youngest. She was ribboned with sensitivity, and when I was eleven, her alcoholism roared out. Before then, she was there and loved me, no matter what. My father was crispy, intellectually proud and critical, and other things. I was afraid of him, not physically but emotionally. I probably am my mother, same type of genetic makeup but different tools to cope with addiction. My father influenced me though, maybe by the hurts I perceived he instilled. As a result, I got my self tucked into therapy more than once and feel like a rebuilt truck emotionally. but it was the negative attitude or his disdain that pushed me down a road towards wellbeing and achievement. I loved my mom totally though; she died when we were 17, and i recommend Motherless Daughters by Hope Edelman as the best book on losing a mom, no matter what age. I am a loving mom; bent over backwards maybe too much for my son so he would never feel as hurt as i did. Now I think less would have been more, but he’s a great guy

Who was more important to you, your father or your mother?

Yes, it makes terrific sense; you must be one hell of a person; good luck in all you do.

Financial Columnist Liz Peek Asks When Will the Economy Hit Bottom?

Anyone read The SHOCK DOCTRINE, The Rise of Disaster Capitalism-Naomi Klein, corporations, oh my, Greedy CEO’s would do well to heed the phrase, “Listen to the midnight sighing of the poor.” The extremes of wealth and poverty become more extreme every day.
