My Comments (30 so far…)

I Read the News Today, Oh Boy: Bad Bullies in The New York Times

It’s probable that the NYT exposure will help this particular boy by embarrassing the community. Nothing will change anything for all the other victims aside from continually shining the light on the problem. You have 2 movies out now about it: DRILLBIT TAYLOR and NEVER BACK DOWN. This usually signals a shift in public perceptions, though a very gradual one, like the first movies about racism in the 60’s. But until parents teach tolerance to their bullying children, this abuse will only beget more school shootings.

Ask Lesley: 'I Like to Joke That I Had My Opinions Surgically Removed'

I too take great exception to Ferraro’s comment. I even find it hilarious. Obama got where he is IN SPITE of being black. Furthermore, he’s mixed-race. Maybe he got where he is because he’s half white.

Chaos in Kenya: An Interview with Helen Epstein

Bravo for this interview. To invest in the future of Africa has to be partly about bringing women’s education into the fore. The more influence women can exert, the more chance there is of men being curbed - in the very long run. But this is something we should all support and fund. I do recommend, if it’s permitted on this site, the Women for Women International Fund. Adopt a woman who’s a victim of violence. Mine’s in Iraq.

What wakes you at 4 a.m.?

Lately my dreams have sped up. By 5 am, they’re done. My subconscious hands the job over to the conscious, which wakes me up with frickin’ money worries. Addition and subtraction. Multiplication and division. For the first time in my life, I can do this in my head. And I’m not happy about that.

Whoopi Goldberg to Dr. Laura: Are You Crazy? Don't Blame Eliot Spitzer's Wife

Almost all politicans have mistresses - including, it’s said, McCain. Some also say that it’s why it’s time for a woman to be president. Testosterone surplus is probably what got the guys into politics in the first place. A wife is not enough to siphon it off. Typically (according to hookers) it’s the politicians who want to be spanked and punished! I bet Spitzer’s gonna get a home spanking now!

On '60 Minutes:' Carl Icahn

Carl Icahn’s sole self-professed motive is money. I don’t find that fascinating, unless you have a thing for unfettered greed.

My First WANTED Poster: An Update on "I Was Robbed!"

That watch is so cool. They ought to make them available to buy to the rest of us. If not, we’ll be forced to steal them.

Striking Writers and the Oscars

I know, why can’t there be FIVE best actresses and leave it at that?

Carla Bruni's Men and Me

More memoirs, Joan. You’re more interesting than a single one of your subjects.

A Tale of Two Videos

John McCain is the same age now as Reagen when he entered his second term and started showing signs of Alzheimer’s. And nobody noticed! I think McCain is already showing signs of confusion. Just look at how he flip-flopped on water-boarding - among countless other issues. I think both his short- and long-term memory is SHOT.

Funny. Wise. Deep.

Please send me the name of your rheumatologist if he’s available.

Hand-Did!

Goes to show: a good strategy will get you everywhere.

Chills in the Hot Sun

Go back to sleep, Sheila. Let us know how the rest of the dream turned out…Actually I know. 552 has a screenplay he wants to show you…

Is Celebrity Worship Going to the Devil?

The proof is right here, Liz! Instead of watching TV, I’m on my computer leaving feedback to you! I think the computer screen has become the new flypaper. TV is now an “event” thing you have to bestir yourself for, like going to the movies. Channel surfing is now web-surfing. And celebrities can be celebrated, dissected, and trashed in a much more democratic way online.
