I’m so out of the loop I recognized 1/2 of the names.

A New Way to Find Just the Right Book

Good idea.   Innovations like this, with the personal touch, will hopefully keep the independents alive.  When I travel I like to visit the independent bookshops and usually make a purchase.

Queen Martha, by Cynthia McFadden

Oops- meant to type "demands" instead of deminds.  Martha would notice typo.

Loved the interview.  My opinion of Martha Stewart has changed over the years and for the better. I admire her can do attitude and her skills which amaze me.  I think she says it best that she views herself as a teacher and deminds perfection from teachers. We do not have to be exact copies of Martha but there is much to learn from her.  She loves wants she does and that is a good thing.

Has your mother's style influenced your own? In what way?

My mother  has a eye for fashion and home decorating.  I prefer the classic look and must have inherited my gene from my mom.  the best looking clothes I owned were picked out by her.  After I went to college there were many times we showed up at events looking very similar without either one of us knowing what the other was wearing.  My mother is 80 and her sense of style continues.

Because of my background I was rather shocked when my oldest daughter  did not like what I picked out for her.  We were starting to have battles so I gave her a clothing allowance (which I did for my other 2 daughters) and our relationship was spared battles over clothes.  Although I did not always like her choices I learned to respect her opinions and to realize she was not a clone of me.  I did laugh when she asked me to choose a coat for her after she started working. Most of the time I am able to choose clothes that my daughters would wear.  I also think if my mom was so inclined could choose clothes for me and I would like them and look good wearing them.

Tourist Tales in Venice, by Judith Martin

Joan, Yes I did see Bernard and Doris- fascinating characters!  I love to read biographies as the person is usually so different from public perception.  Keep the recommendations coming!

Liz Smith: Jerry Hall – Mrs. Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss!

I remember Jerry Hall being from Mesquite, TX (near Dallas).  A friend of mine was in the class behind her.  Dallas paper would often mention her when she came to town to visit her family. I remember seeing Jerry on Phil Donahue when she was pregnant with oldest child - she seemed bright but I never could see the attraction toi Mick Jagger who she kept sayingwas so good looking.
