Liz Smith: Marilyn and Tony Curtis: Fact or Fantasy?

Must agree.  The movie was very good.  I also liked Ali McGraw in  Goodbye Columbus.  I was in high school and I wanted to look like her.  Always thought she was so attractive and I liked how she dressed.

Liz Smith Remembers Eunice Kennedy Shriver

A truly giving and inspiring woman.  Special Olympics is a wonderful organization and a lasting legacy of the founder.  I agree with Susan Crawford’s post.

Late Summer Books (That Make You Young Again), Recommends by Roxanne J. Coady

I did read The Book Thief and now consider it one of my favorites.  I have recommended it to all my friends and family and just passed my copy to my oldest daughter.  I have read several books this summer, in cluding The Piano Tuner, that were recommended by readers on this site.  Thanks for the recommendations and keep them coming.  I will definitely read the other 2 books recommended by Roxanne.

The 'Ongoing After' of Grief: A Mother Copes With Her Young Son's Suicide (Video)

Watched the film last night with my 19 year old daughter. Thank you to Dana and her family for sharing their story. My heart goes out to Evan’s family and friends.

How to Die Well in America: A Conversation With Jane Brody

Oh, the Price of Beauty, by Debra Borchardt

Have always used Revlon or similiar products and have been wearing makeup since 7th grade - started with mascara.  For a few short years I purchased shampoo and conditioner from stylist. Since last summer when the price of gas started go out the roof I started thinking how to economize and hair products were on the list.  I am currently going through my arsenal of little bottles of shampoo I collected from hotels (used 1/2 in hotel and brought up bottle) and conditioners my daughters have rejected after 1 or 2 uses.  It now looks like I am good for at least a year.

A 55-Year-Old Looks Back on Life, by Joyce Maynard

Yesterday there was a review of Labor Pains by the LA Times and it received a very good review.  I think I will read it.

Is getting your hair done a chore or a treat?

Every 6 weeks for cut and styling.  I keep my hair short (natural wave) and have low maintenance routine at home - wash and blow dry.  I do get compliments and I always pass on comments to my hair stylist.  I am very comfortable with my looks and thank my parents for their genes although I do wish one of them had thick hair gene to pass on.

Is getting your hair done a chore or a treat?

From your picture I say keep it short and natural- looks good.

'Julie & Julia' Takes the Cake (Video)

As the "social director" for my friends I am planning a get together movie/lunch or dinner to view Julie & Julia hopefully channelling our own inner Julia Child.
