The wOw Women Weigh in on Sarah Palin, Republican Strategy and Slow Democratic Response

They have a saying in Hollywood that there is no bad publicity - so that goes for Palin’s family problems - gets folks to talk about her - But what about the ISSUES? The economy? And who are the people behind the curtain whom we DON’T elect? Please Obama let your lion ROAR.

Julia Reed Sets the Record Straight on Palin (With a Little Help From Craig Ferguson)

Last night on the news there was a clip of Palin at a restaurant - unscripted and without hair/makeup/wardrobe- and unimpressive. Who’s behind the curtain? Not Palin - or even McCain…scary that folks don’t see the strings on the puppets,

Who is the most famous person you've ever met? What were the circumstances?

Anthony Hopkins came backstage and was introduced to me after a production I was in in Hollywood in the late 70’s (he knew the producer from working on TV) - and I SAW Mick Jagger in a Hollywood office where I was answering the phone (he looked very PINK & small) - and sat next to the novelist Jerzy Kosinsky at a NY dinner party (still haven’t read the Painted Bird) - and everyone in Hollywood was in the mini-series Backstairs at the White House - everyone was on the set was notable except the 3 daughters of Woodrow Wilson - 2 daughters of well-known actors & ME. What a thrill that was - it’s out on DVD - finally!

HBO Executive Producer Sheila Nevins on the Making of 'Heidi Fleiss: The Would-Be Madam of Crystal'

The salubrious sells - I peeked at the Fleiss show - altho it was a bit tedious, I am not personally impressed by her brilliance - as well as the other HBO brothel doc - which was more interesting and more salurioous to boot. But Fleiss is so very L.A. with the drugs and the skinny bod and the flashy, easy, but risky enterprise(s) - fast cash with flash - so very bad L.A.- of the 80’s - We are the Wild West a European told me - & so Nevada is appropriate - altho ironically more sexist than L.A. due to the cowboy ethic. What’s sauce for the gander is NOT sauce for the goose! But hardly any kind of entrepreneurial role model!

Sex and Sensibility: Wry, Witty Cartoons From The Female POV

Funny - I have the household pornography at my house! Yes - the cartoons make the women sound so sad…but they are looking for love in all the wrong places, as the song goes….

What is the most memorable evening you've had this summer? Will you recall it often?

My husband and I had a delightfully warm sunset cruise up to the breakwater of Channel Islands Harbor in Ventura, CA and watched the sunset. It’s usually too chilly to really kick back then - but this warm evening was an exception - and beautiful!

Does Hollywood Hate Tom Cruise? Liz Smith Gives Answers on Fox News (Video)

Pooor Tom - his anti-psychiatric comments filtered through his Scientology bias make him look like a loose cannon to lots of people. He is so much more presentable when he keeps quiet personally and just ACTS.

New Study Explains Why the Lower Eyelids Sag With Age

I don’t know - I have allergy-sensitive eyes and had to deal with swelling early on. I found that a dab of witch hazel under eyecream really helped with the swelling - & if all else failed - cold black tea compresses. I have read that if you are very careful you can pat your lower eye area to distribute the fat deposits, too. But all of this depends on starting EARLY! If only my dear husband would follow my advice! Take if from an actress - keeping things from sagging in the beginning is the more economical way to go!

The Vancouver Conversations Part One: A Few wOw Women Remember Traumas and Dramas in High School, First Jobs, First Children

I disagree - there is always the fickle finger of fate in action - one could have been hit by a taxi & wasn’t - or met the right person at the right time on the other hand. Too many children of privilege really bomb out, you know!

The Vancouver Conversations Part Two: A Few wOw Women on Losing Highly Sentimental Objects

P.S. that looks more like a condo than a boat to me. I like to be able to really see the water - and the gasoline bills, jeez!

The Vancouver Conversations Part Two: A Few wOw Women on Losing Highly Sentimental Objects

I am actually constantly afraid I will lose something & I rarely do. I have only been robbed of my wallet a few times, and then when there was no $ in it - only cards and i.d. - but one never knows where one’s SS # went even tho it was in the days before identity theft. I did have a little gold bracelet of my mother’s which was too big for me just slip off my wrist somehow. The biggest losses for me have never been material - but rather something like losing a part which would have meant a great deal to me & my career at the time! (I am an actress, you see…)

What one book must all young women read before they turn 21?

Personally I found Lady Chatterly’s Lover very inspiration at that age!

Lesley Ann Warren: From Cinderella to Sex Symbol to Actress With Staying Power!

The trick is to stay lean (in her case) and get to the potential sagging/damage while you still can! from an actress who, altho not a sylph, also cannot play her age yet! (Also take your VITAMINS & adaptogens! They WORK.)

Sex and the Pretty: How Good Sex Keeps Your Skin Looking Young, by Shirley Lord

Ha! that was the line used by randy old men in the day - “it will be so good for your skin!” Luckily, I have very nice skin one way or the other…

Should Spanish be taught as part of the mandatory curriculum in our elementary schools?

It’s good to be multi-lingual (I know several other languages) - but to forcefeed it in schools so early? I don’t know - & something would have to be done about the mostly LOUSY language teaching in the U.S. & make sure the Spanish they are learning isn’t a localized dialect and not high Spanish! Despite being “bilingual” most US Spanish speakers speak kitchen table Spanish unsuitable for business in the rest of the world & native speakers FROM SPAIN were being imported for bilingual programs. The ignorance about foreign languages in the US is legion!
