Marrying sheerly for money is like selling oneself off - and then you have to worry about the replacement, as there is a short shelf life.

I agree with the Southern notion of “setting shoes” - that is shoes that look great on the feet, do wonders for your legs, but are not meant to be stood on for any periods of time - but just dangled on the end of your foot!

As a writer, I have been trying to get a press tour so I can write an article about the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, now - in its glory - But haven’t gotten any bites? Any suggestions anyone?

It’s funny - at one point someone was describing out lifestyle (which includes the boat) and asked “Are they rich?” which is hilarious - as boats depreciate like MAD and as such, there are terrific bargains out there - like ours! (The taxman thinks its worth several times what WE paid for it!)

I like our 30 some odd ft. sailboat - because you are closer to the water! And it’s intimate - who wants a floating hotel that needs a crew to run it? The point is to get AWAY after all…

Sag has allowed the union to get bloated far beyond the size where an average member could expect work. I think the producers like this because they want fresh faces for endless re-runs (unlike the ensemble players we saw in early sitcoms like I love Lucy.) But the union takes their rather hefty membership fees and dues and gives most of the rank and file NOTHING. The union still operates as if it were 1939 or even 1951! The studios are over - it’s every man for him/herself & the people who benefit the most from SAG are those who DON’T need any of its protections. Not that I don’t believe in unionism - without it the producers would really be beastly! - but the union seems to have lost its way and doesn’t remember its original mandate. But it’s impossible to operate both ends against the middle - We need radically creative thinking to keep SAG from slowly committing suicide & sadly, I don’t see that.

As a bargain queen I had a DIY wedding in my family’s backyard which we combined with a family reunion of sorts. Pretty and very simple and nowhere near $30,000!! Young people need to discover the distinction between the real and the ideal world! In the ideal world we have Princess Diana’s wedding - and in the real world we have everyone else’s! A good life lesson for a young couple, which they will need to study over and over again…

How wise your father was! Lovely young women all need to be encouraged to develop their brains - because after a certain point, it’s wit that saves us!

I wonder how these young things keep their legs warm. Bare legs are ok in the summer but the rest of the time???
