I’m glad to hear your good news Bonnie. I’m waiting to hear from another friend who had an MRI this week after a biopsy showed cancer (not breast) so all good news is encouraging. Up until I was about 40, I used to sleep like a log. But then I started having anxiety attacks and depression and had great difficulty getting to sleep so I can really relate to all you insomniacs. I still take anti-anxiety pills to get me to sleep but I’m often tired too because I don’t really get restful sleep.

Phyllis, thanks for the history lesson. That was most enlightening. I certainly can sympathize with Mr. Maverick’s descendants. It must be exceedingly annoying to hear your family name constantly misrepresented by a passel of politicians!

Good for you Whoopi! It’s great to hear someone say what they feel without smothering it in politically correct fluff and icing. I’m pretty much in agreement with you so I’m obviously biased, but it’s good to see an honest person telling their own truth. Unfortunately that happens rarely in public discourse in the U.S. I would be proud to be an American if all Americans were as inclusive as you.

If that’s a current pic of her, I think she should get a new hairstyle. Even if she was picked for the wrong reasons, at least she should get into this century so she doesn’t disgrace her gender in national politics.

What do you think we should call Rielle Hunter then? Do you think the term “mistress” is too good for her because she didn’t lounge about all day in her negligee, waiting for her lover to come to her so she could pleasure him? We can hardly call her a “kept woman” since her lover wasn’t keeping her; it was his PAC who paid her for her alleged services. Perhaps you think she had too much of a life of her own to offer him the normal expected services of a mistress: soothing relief from his sick wife, commiseration over his difficult marriage, and a sympathetic ear for his hard days of pursuing political advancement. How about calling her his “paramour”? Do you think this would be more descriptive of her function?
