HerTube: His and Hers Romance

Hadn’t seen that one. Love it! The look on his face says it all!

Down Memory Lane with TWEED

I like L’air du Temps. But for several years all I’ve worn is Oscar de la Renta. It’s a fresh scent, not heavy or flowery. I must admit I tried Cashmere Mist and liked it a lot, but not enough to abandon Oscar!

4711! That was my mother’s perfume too. Not too strong and very respectable.

OMG, that’s scary. I can remember when I used to wear Tweed.

What do you think of Scientology?

Well, I found Mary Wells’ response very heartening. I always felt Scientology was a rather menacing cult since it’s practitioners seem quite fanatic and the little I know about it is somewhat frightening. Anything taken to an extreme can become dangerous and Scientologists don’t seem to admit any point of view different from their beliefs; their path is the one and only right path and there is no room for deviation.

Maria Shriver Announces Star-Studded Women's Conference

I wish you had posted this earlier. All the day tickets are already sold out. I would at least have like a chance to get one. I’m very disappointed. The list of speakers looks absolutely incredible.

Caroline Kennedy Accompanies Ted to Senate Vote

I hope the NYT had better luck with spelling niece!

Do you have a tattoo?

Not me! Too cowardly!

My Heart Belongs in Santa Barbara

Sounds like you made the correct decision about the boyfriend!

Should Spanish be taught as part of the mandatory curriculum in our elementary schools?

Good for you Frank! Now we’re getting sensible results on the poll!

Should Spanish be taught as part of the mandatory curriculum in our elementary schools?

Oops Maggie D, you beat me to it. And yes, it is true that most countries teach English as a second language. But don’t you think that is a very unattractive parochial attitude, which seems to be common in the U.S., that if you can’t speak English you’re not worth talking to?

Should Spanish be taught as part of the mandatory curriculum in our elementary schools?

God, I can’t believe the poll results! Perhaps you all think children should be learning Chinese or Russian. But after English, the language most spoken around the world (and I’m not going by populations but by countries) is, I believe, Spanish. Giving children a good grounding in the language in elementary school would be a great start. Children in almost all developed countries learn another language during their formative school years. It is well documented that the earlier they start, the easier it is. And once you have mastered one foreign language, the easier it is to learn more languages. So why has no one disclosed which other language(s) they think American children should be taught?

Sunday is President George W. Bush's birthday. On this 4th of July, do you have any special birthday wishes for him?

I think the line should be drawn in how the differing opinion is expressed. To say “I totally disagree with you. I think GWB is the most wonderful president who has protected us from terrorists for the last seven years” is perfectly acceptable. To say “You’re an idiot. How could you be so stupid as to think that GWB is a good president. You must be a half-wit to think he has protected the U.S. from terrorists during his 7-year reign as emperor of the free world” is not acceptable. Impugning other posters intelligence is out of line and should not be allowed. There are many forums where posts are monitored and insulting posts are deleted and are marked as deleted for inappropriate content. It is obvious that the posters on this forum tend towards democratic rather than republican viewpoints. However, republican supporters who have something to say should be allowed to say it provided they do not demean the views of other contributors. Although I have no problem with anyone demeaning the intelligence and competence of GWB, lol!
