What Kind of Man Does It Take to Love a Widow? by Michele Neff Hernandez
I truly understand Katydidwells what you are saying. I lost my husband of 40 years a few years ago. I have never remarried because I felt I could not replace the person who was such a good husband and father. And I was not young like you. Fortunately you found someone wonderful
When my husband was first ill he said something to me that shocked me for a moment. He said and meant it.," I hoped we would live a long time and you would die first because you would have no one to care for you". We talked about it and he was generally concerned about me and not about his own imminent death. Now many years have passed and I really understand where he was coming from. It’s been a good life. Better when he was here with us. But he would be satisfied and I hope he knows.

No one complained when FDR and Reagan etc. were on newsmags covers.
It is overkill in my opinion but the president just can’t take notice and call the magazines and should be concentrating on other matters such as the economy and health care. Not to mention juggling China and Russia and every over problem in the world. He inherited a bad legacy from the last administration so ignore the covers.
As for Palin, if you pose in shorts and look good and it is in a public view then just be grateful you look good. That’s about what you have going for you right now.
Belinda you are right. They just don’t recognize the underlying predjudice that sometimes affects us.

Liz Smith: Jon and Kate Plus the Lohans – Mommies and Daddies Dearest?
Schadenfreude is so right..We all seem to enjoy the gossip vicariously even when we don’t own T.V.s. I own one but never looked at the show until you couldn’t avoid the in your face stories at every checkout etc.
Liz, really good insight into the Gosselins. He and She are so immature and made such bad decisions all along the way. The kids need to be supported and are very cute the few times I have seen them. The answer lies in the parents growing up and behaving like real parents. That means spending time with the children and behaving decently to each other.
As for Jodie Foster, she just happens to be gifted mentally and mom did something right in sending her to good schools and keeping her priorities in order. I don’t know about the other young actors like Lindsay Lohan but even if she is gifted the parenting lacked maturity from both of the publicity hounds. She is young enough to get on a better path and I hope she does.
All of the answers on this site are so good and intelligent that is why I like WOW. Thanks fellow WoWers.
When to Say 'No' – And More Life Lessons From Mireille Guiliano, by Erin L. Jones
A Full Life is the one you look back on when your life is almost over. The choices you made, children or childless, career or home are done. If you look back only at the mistakes and wrong decisions then it was not a full life. If you can look back and say, "hey that wasn’t so bad". Then you had a full life whether you choose to look at it in that way.
As Robert Burns said so well."If you could see yourself as others see us You would be happy with the gifts that God Gave Us". (paraphrased from the Scots.) And I say this not as a religious person but as one who has led a life with all the good times and all the bad times. Just live your life.

The wOw Conversation: Is 'The Good Wife' the 'Smart Wife'? (Audio)
Very interesting conversation. three things stood out to me. #1 These guys are probably inadequate sexually in some way and the wife knows and stands by for her own reasons, children, family, lifestyle.
#2 Political women who have their own political agenda in mind for the future.
#3 Don’t compare us to the French. If we wanted their life style we would have adopted the French as our role models in the 1700’s.

My Funeral Oration for the Late Writer Dominick Dunne, by Liz Smith
Very lovely tribute to a very interesting man and writer. I never met him but did see him at a trial in Santa Monica years ago. He was following a trial known as The Billionaire Boys Club. I am not sure if it was before or after he lost his daughter.
I then started following his general writings and later his stories on T.V.
What a talented family he came from. I will miss him in spite of never having met him. Thank you Liz
