Hollywood Starlets on Steroids? Tsk-Tsk, Says Dr. Pat Wexler

HGH is used for children with growth deficiencies and it is an unpleasant experience. Whether it really works or not without causing long term effects I do not know.

But adults who use it to prevent aging or being muscle people are making a big mistake. Aging comes without warning and no amount of medicine can stop it. They have probably done long term studies on athletes and body builders so far and I will bet the long range is not good.  Too many of the users end up semi-helpless with lots of damage to their systems and body functions.  Just eat healthy and enjoy your life.  Steroids are a gamble and you might as well be in Las Vegas gambling your body on baccarat or 21.

Interview With 'Frozen River' Director Courtney Hunt

Excellent interview with CH.  Sounds very honest and it must be evident in her movie. Haven’t seen it yet but anything Melissa Leo is in must be good.  She is an actress who really gives of herself creating characters, Loved her in Homicide on tV.

What's in the Economic Stimulus Bill for You?

I hope this stimulus plan works but where are the specifics for rebuilding the infrastructure of this country. As a child of the depression I saw public works and construction and art projects which did stimulate the country with giving jobs to young men and women . I happened to see the same situation in England and Scotland when I was a child and it is not a pretty sight. Men of all ages hanging out on street corners and begging for work or money. I did not realize at the time that the situation was not normal. So let’s hope this works for the future generations too and we can live through this without a depression. Note that we until now have lived mostly in prosperity but in history cycles there are always ups and downs.

Lesley Stahl Asks: Has Public Outrage on Excess Reached 'Tipping Point'?

Mel, if you mean me then I am sorry because I just don’t like to see people criticized. I was not criticizing DeB, I thought I was being helpful. But anyway that garbage reference is a mean one. Now my grandson would love it because he would like to drive one now when he is five.

Lesley Stahl Asks: Has Public Outrage on Excess Reached 'Tipping Point'?

I agree with you DeB. I looked at the Charlie Rose interview with the women founders of this site. I had seen it before and I joined at the very beginning. I understand your point and for those who don’t follow but just jump in with a random statement it is not too interesting. I think though that sometimes new people come on line and do not really understand what kind of a conversational area this is. You are outspoken but I enjoy your comments as well as the other regulars and I think most are fair. Those that do not “get it” will not stick around long, believe me. Sorry if this does not fit in to the topic but I look forward to more conversations from everyone because variety is the spice of life.

Lesley Stahl Asks: Has Public Outrage on Excess Reached 'Tipping Point'?

RP, I agree with you that there is no reason to be disagreeable to newcomers who make mistakes or writers who disagree with you. In the beginning it was very nice on WoW. Now it sometimes seems that some posters are just looking for ways to criticize their sisters in WoW. Try to be nice. I agree this message is not about taxes but I reserve the right to write and do my best to not put down others. Just remember that all conversations wander and thats what makes it interesting. A scientific debate for example is not a conversation so then you would not wander.

In the discussion on health care, everyone laments they can no longer have a great relationship with their doctor. Do you?

There comes a point as you get older(I mean really older) when you do not have too much choice about choosing MD’s. I hate to say it but I have outlived so many of my doctors. The one I have now and for the last twenty years is really good. But now at around 60 he is talking about retiring because of the difficulties with too much paperwork and complications with medicare and health programs. I hope he stays for just awhile because he listens and follows up problems. As for returning phone calls it is important that you have a rapport with his Office manager or Secretary or Nurse. I don’t mean going out for drinks and becoming their friend. When phone calls need to be returned and the doctor is really busy the office people are the ones who can help you get through to him. As an experienced health worker for more than 60 years , I say, if you are not comfortable with your doctor or the office, keep looking. Good doctors are out there.

Is Nadya Suleman Copying Angelina Jolie? Octuplet Mother Says No. You Decide (Photos)

This is the saddest case I can think of recently. Out of her past six children at least three of them are special needs children. And sadly out of the eight surviving kids there may be a few more who need special help through life. Nadya is obviously disturbed and obsessive about having children with no means or ability to support and raise them well. The Jolie look is unimportant. If she did have plastic surgery it is just part of the obsession. Unfortunately the Los Angeles County Child Services will no doubt have to do something about their living situation. It is very sad to me. It is hard enough in these times to bring up one child economically. God Bless the Children

Nadya Suleman, Octuplet Mother Explains to NBC: 'I Just Longed for Certain Connections'

Nadya does know how to work the system. think of it. She is 32 and injured her back and had depression when she was 25 due to a work incident. Then she took the disability money and used it for making babies. If she is living off the state for a bad back then how on earth did she carry all those children at once. Those of us who have had one child know what stress there can be on your back. It is a psychiatric problem and instead of demanding she get treatment she is being enabled by the govt. and her parents. We really need Nadya to be an expert on child raising with her own program on one of the networks.

The Duggars, Nadya Suleman … When parents have so many children at once, should they be allowed to profit from it?

The Duggars are obviously suppporting their many children and their lifestyle with proceeds from their tv show. I don’t care how you define it that is profiting. The other side is that once the children are here they must be taken care of and that is expensive. Right or wrong the children must be cared for. The unmarried Suleman with fourteen children under the age of seven is an unusual case but no one gives potential mothers psychiatric evaluation. Yes, the doctor who assisted her was wrong but the medical community will be on his or her back as soon as they find him. As for the young actors pushed into the weird world of acting there is usually more to the story. Most of them suffered some kind of abuse either emotional or physical or both in order to make money which the parents usually spent on their lifestyle. This has nothing to do with multiple births. We all make wrong choices in our lives at times. We the public will end up supporting these fourteen babies in some way or another.

The Duggars, Nadya Suleman … When parents have so many children at once, should they be allowed to profit from it?

Sad as it may be the children will need much care and some or all may have disabilities. The problems may be minor or major but someone has to take care of them. I believe women should be allowed to choose how many children they wish but not the way Sulemen did it. So if they need to make a profit or the choice is the government and taxes supporting them, let them make money. The sad part is that no matter what happens if there are any health problems or disabilities the public will still be taking care of them as required in public and special needs schools etc. Remember in the not so long ago many families had nine or ten children and some had twenty. It never was easy but at least it didn’t happen all at once.

Octuplet Mother Nadya Suleman Pushes Story on Oprah

Suleiman is not nuts, she is delusional. Maybe there is not a MD involved and she took fertility drugs all on her own. they are easy to obtain in Mexico just a few miles down the road from L.A. But if she did have an M.D. do the implants then he is definitely in trouble if he is licensed. Actually there are no specific laws about how many fetuses to implant, only suggestions to reputable doctors. That suggestion is only two or three at a time. So there is no crime and therefore no punishment and perhaps a lucrative lifestyle for the mother. WoW.

Feliz cumpleanos from Los Angeles. Best wishes always from another octogenarian. You are real and you are honest in your writing and just keep on going. Look forward to seeing you on WOW in our nineties. You are a role model.

wOw's Intuitive Peggy Rometo Correctly Predicts Caroline's Drop Out

Peggy was right but it was pretty obvious. Just because you have a famous name with reputations for toughness in business does not make you tough. I think the way the Kennedy children were brought up fostered both her shyness and her brother John’s mild acting out in public. Caroline is apparently very talented at fund raising and public activism. But she does not draw attention to those talents. She might have made an excellent Senator but lacked the desire to put herself out there.
