This group is in a way just like women talking to each other maybe at lunch or a bridge game or at the gym or just visiting. . Conversations veer wide and open and the subject changes along the way. An important part of marriage and living together successfully is honesty and sharing. There are women and men who prefer to be kept in the dark about their spouses dealings. A lot of the women seem to not care or be interested but underneath the surface they know. Mrs Madoff knew.

Before I knew who the pilot of the Ferry was that maneuvered so close to the victims. I was wishing that she or he would get the recognition they deserve. Now she ranks with the Pilot as a true hero of the year. What skill and daring she displayed and so quickly. Cheers to Brittanny.

It is a matter of luck. Perhaps the more people you meet the better a chance to find love. I have two friends who were divorcees who met great husbands on a match-making site. Both were teachers and ten years later both marriages are solid. Two more women friends met great partners at a “Parents without Partners meeting.”. One marriage was a great success. The other relationship ended up in a miserable situation but there were a lot of good years too. Internet dating may be suspect but if the whole world is watching it might just work. I had one husband who died after 40 years and was just the person I needed. I hope all these women just keep on meeting people and find the right mate. There is always romance and companionship somewhere for someone.

Helen Mirrens’ quote struck me as the usual movie star thinking. Men with several exceptions are almost always nicer to women when they interview and write about them. You have to look at the source. Pretty or beautiful women are treated differently by men and women. Helen is a great actor and performer and I really enjoy her work. But she has always been beautiful and treated as special. Ingrid Betancourt is in a different category entirely and she is beautiful too. The difference is that she is a heroine and knows when to be discreet. There is something to be said about celebrity worship. Just not here and now.
