Should unions have more power in the U.S.?

I voted other because we still need unions to protect workers and abuses that can arise when there is no union. However unions can have too much power ..like anything else it is a balance.

Sheila Nevins: Why Palin Is a Great Choice

Sheila…you’re right. It makes the division very clear. Lets just hope the American people will choice the Obama ticket. Because it looks like we are headed for a conservative gover’t up here in Canada. May the force be with us all !

Whoopi Weighs in on Sarah Palin and Reader Comments on Her Obama Post!

Whoopie…you are so on. I can’t believe McCain picked this woman as his running mate. I hope people really read about her. So far I have heard she is anti-choice . That kind of thinking really scares me. She stated in a news cast that she took on the big oil boys but didn’t say how. I can’t believe there are no other really bright Rep. woman out there. What was he and his advisers thinking? This should be a very interesting Fall. We may have an election up here in Canada and it will not be a tenth as exciting at your’s down south. If you have trouble sleeping hook into our election news. On second thought boring isn’t so bad and I do love our health care!

Whoopi Goldberg on Barack Obama's Nomination

Did anyone read David Brooks article in the New York Times. I know it’s suppose to be funny or sarcastic but I don’t get it. Maybe I’m so nervous that Obama will not make it that I’ve lost my sense of humour. Great article Whoopie !

Do you use antibacterial hand soap?

I use the anti-B soap in public washrooms like the rest of you. I do turn off taps with papers towels but feel guilty about letting the water run. If the water handles are large enough I will turn off the water with the back of my hand. I really hate wasting water. Life can be difficult sometimes.

Tonight! Joe Biden and President Clinton Take the Stage at the DNC UPDATE 7:00 PM

What great speeches. What a night. There really is hope. Thank you American Dems!

All Eyes on Hillary Clinton ... UPDATED 10:00 AM: wowOwow what a night!

I just ran Dennis Kucinich’s speech. I heard Hillery last night and both of them are amazing. Those of you who are still hurting from Hillery’s not getting the nod …please hear Dennis’s speech again and Hillery’s. This is about the future of America and the world. Bravo to the both of them. This is one special convention and I am so glad to be off work so I can watch it. America you have every right to be proud.

Sunday is the 11th anniversary of Princess Diana's death. Do you remember where you were when you heard the news that she died?

My son woke me up and told me the news. I was shocked like everyone else. I felt really sorry for the boys and hoped that the Royal family would be able to comfort them in this terrible time. I really felt she got a raw deal from the Royal family and some of the press. Fortunately it looks like the boys are allowed to honour their mother. Thank heavens for that. I must say I still miss her what she might have done for the world. Still missing you Diane!

All Eyes on Hillary Clinton ... UPDATED 10:00 AM: wowOwow what a night!

Did anyone read the article in the New York Times today on page A19 Second Place Citizens by Susan Faludi? It helped to explain my anger at Hillery not getting the nod. We still have to continue the fight for normal rights. However, I feel that anger does not allow people to not vote or vote for McCain because they are angry at the Dems. Please people ! vote Obama, it is the only hope America has right now on many different fronts! What happens in America really affects the whole world!

Michelle Obama a Hit at Democratic Convention

Sherr….I loved reading what you wrote. I was on the computer at 9:30am and I wanted to respond then but couldn’t get to the reply sight as the WOW network was so busy. Thanks you for your words I hope more people read them I just love the way WOW people get to things so quickly. What a great site. Have a great day or what’s left of it. Here’s hoping Hillery does as well !

Michelle Obama a Hit at Democratic Convention

Don’t let Mark get to you..just ignore him and maybe he’ll go away. Michelle was brilliant!

What is your favorite time of day?

I am so sorry for your loss. Your words ring true to me too. Being in the moment is so important and I try to remember that through out day. Have a wonderful day or should I say many wonderful moments !

wOw's Comments of the Week 8/9 - 8/15

Does anyone out there know how to keep the family cat from waking us up at 5:30 am. We have taken to locking him in the kitchen so he has access to the downstairs and food and his box. Giving this nutty cat away is not an option.

What feels better: forgiveness or revenge?

I vote for neither. Some things are not forgivable. My choice is to understand where the person who wronged or hurt me, or someone, else is coming from and what they have gone through to do the hurtful act. That is the only way I can let go. That doesn’t mean that the person shouldn’t be punished if what they did was against the law. It just is a way to let go or understand the pain and deal with it. Revenge never works as it just eats at you and turns you angry and very full of sadness and hurt. Does this take a lot of work. You betcha’!

Which meal can't you miss?

I wish I could graze all day on healthy food. It sounds healthy. I’ve got to have breakfast or else there is hell to pay. The evening meal is really important in our house too. When my kids are home we try to eat together. It’s a great way to catch up. I mean we would catch up as soon as my 22 year old son starts talking again. I hear sons start to talk with their parents about age 24 or 25 or when they leave home. Mine will leave home next year after his last year at university. I can’t wait as he is a real interesting person.
