Change the World

Cornor Brooke…thank you very much for taking the time to answer. What you said helps me to understand and angers and saddens me all at the same time. I really think you are correct. Again thank you.

Today is Earth Day! What's the most wasteful thing that you do?

Driving my car when maybe a walk will do. I’m really thinking this one out. I have a Toyota Corello (sp?). That really is my worst offense. I don’t use plastic bags anymore and recycle a lot more. I figure everything little thing counts and may add up to a big thing.

Risa is breaks my heart that you would even think you have to ask the question. If it was a joke it was a poor one. The one reason I like this site is that it is open to everyone. Happy Passover from my house to yours.

'Trust Your Gut, It’s the Only Thing That Separates You From Everybody Else'

I am a therapist with women who are in or have left abusive situations and/or suffered other traumas. One of the main treatments I do is to introduce the woman to her self and feelings and that rekindles her gut feelings which I have always found keep us safe. It is slow work but worth it. When women regain a sense of self it is like watching a beautiful flower unfold. They become clearer in their needs about what they need to do that is best for themselves and their children. I have always felt my Gut has never let me down and whenever I don’t follow it I could just scream. No one is ever too old to learn how to follow your GUT.

I’m not sure where to put this question so I am putting it here. I don’t understand the animosity towards Hillary. I realize not everyone can like her. However she does have experience and appears to have the interest of all Americans in sight. People she has trusted are leaving her as stated in a New York Times article today April20, but doesn’t really explain why. I’d love to hear what people have to say. Thank you in advance.

What advice would you give to a 21-year-old woman?

The advice I would give a 21 year old is trust your gut. If your gut says he’s not good for you …..dump him. If your body is screaming not one more drink..don’t. Most 21 year olds know a lot more than they give themselves credit for. If you aren’t truly sure find a friend that you really trust. Oh…start saving money right away, no matter how small. Have fun ! Life is a blast!

What advice would you give to a 21-year-old woman?

The best advice I can think of is follow your gut. It will never steer you wrong. If that guy is wrong..dump him, your body is screaming not to have that next drink don’t Trust yourself. 21 year olds have a lot more sense than they think they have. If in doubt find a friend that you truly trust and ask their advice. Remember just because you ask doesn’t mean you have to follow it. Oh…start a retirement fund now !

"South Pacific" returns to Broadway — what musical comedy from your or your parent's youth still resonates with you today?

My husband and I really love the Mikado. Great music and good laughs. I personally loved Once Upon a Mattress which was Carol Burnett”s first Broadway show. I will never forget her entrance swinging on a vine with her Tarzan yell. What a HOOT ! Fun question. Thanks.

Do you tell people your real age?

I just love this web site. I’m 63 and proud of it. I ‘ve had great adventures along the way and looking forward to more. I had kids late at age 40 and 44, and they are great too. Way to go ladies stand proud. Sorry I’m gushing.

Who was more important to you, your father or your mother?

Jan…that makes a lot of sense to me. I hope your sister understands what you did. In fact I hope your family understands what you did for them. I hope and trust you have received counseling for what happened to you and realize it had nothing to do with you as a person.

Who was more important to you, your father or your mother?

My parents had an awful marriage. My mother was verbally and physically abusive and my father never interfered. However having said that they both came by these not so good parenting styles honestly. What I did get from my Dad was integrity and fairness towards others and from my mother a love of politics and the underdog. I know this may sound strange being they were who they were but they had good points as well. I certainly learned what not to do as a parent.

What are the three dumbest things you spend money on?

Those fancy packages of tissues for the nose. They make me feel special. I know I should get a life but I really like them. I spend $4.00 a week on lotteries…you never know. Other than that I do love getting a bottle of good red wine for my husband.

I was wondering if anyone else read the articles , about two weeks ago, that stated 1 in 4 girls have had or do have STD. There was an editorial in the New York Times and it only mentioned girls. The original articles just talked about girls as well. No where did it mention how the girls acquired the STD. Are we so complacent that only girls are mentioned. They didn’t obtain it by themselves. When are boys/men going to be held accountable and their fathers. Was anyone else outraged by this? Thanks.

On '60 Minutes:' Still a Chance Al Gore Might Enter the Presidential Race?

We’re not happy with the conservative gov’t either. Hopefully that will change in the next six months or so. But honestly do Americans really listen to us up here. I really doubt it. You are right though, the conservatives should have kept their thoughts to themselves till the election is over. What do you mean by the Republicans are working with one of the Dems hopefuls?
