Jane Wagner Care-Toon: Home Foreclosure

Hello Jane! And thank you for giving us an image describing these tough times. The house looks so isolated - covered with vines, colorless in contrast to the red sky. I think that’s how it must feel to someone going through a foreclosure - the awful invasion of privacy and, at the same time, the feeling of extreme loneliness. (Or maybe I’m over-analyzing). At any rate, it’s so good to see one of your Care-toons again.

Laura Ingraham Guest Host Tammy Bruce Calls Michelle Obama 'Trash' (Audio)

To feature an article with this type of headline is called "yellow journalism" (Yellow journalism is a type of journalism that downplays legitimate news in favor of eye-catching headlines that sell more newspapers (or attract more website hits). It may feature exaggerations of news events, scandal-mongering, sensationalism - source Wikipedia). Regardless of the position taken in the article itself, the headline is meant to invite controversial comments. That was my objection. It insults the First Lady and everyone involved knows it.

This topic is demeaning and insulting to the First Lady. Why wOw would feature it is hard to understand. I would hope it would be beneath you to publish such garbage.

Condi Rice: 9/11 Not Used for Iraq Invasion (Video)

Condi Rice was out of her depth from day one. She became a "yes-woman" for the Bush administration and was eventually so irrelevant that no one really listened to a thing she said. She should have stayed at Stanford where she would have garnered some respect.

George W. Bush Penning Book on Presidential Decisions

The topic on this thread, canuck, is Bush, not President Obama. It is not about comparing eight years of travesty and deceit with two months of a new Presidency. As for what God will do, you don’t have any more information on that than I do, but it sounds as if you believe in a God who plays political favorites. I guess that means your God could care less about approximately 90 percent of the world’s population. Nice.

President Bush will leave office as one of the most unpopular departing presidents in history, according to a new CBS/NewYork Times poll showing Mr. Bush’s final approval rating at 22 percent. Seventy three percent say they disapprove of the way Mr. Bush has handled hus job as President over the past eight years. Mr. Bush’s final rating is the lowest final approval rating for an outgoing President since Gallup began asking about Presidential approval more than 70 years ago.

I guess this puts you in the 22 percent, canuck, but it’s hard to believe that anyone who is reasonably intelligent would want to be counted in that group. George W. Bush trashed the Constitution, the economy, the lives of thousands of Americans and Iraqis with his illegal and unnecessary war, and murdered the English language while he was at it. If you are confident in this man’s skills, that’s your right, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Dream on, canuck. Your facts are inaccurate.

Suggested chapter titles for Bush’s book:

Chapter One

Why I Deliberately Deceived the American People by Stating That Iraq Had Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Chapter Two

Why My Administration Approved Millions in AIG Corporate Bonuses in September, 2008

Chapter Three

Why I stated, after authorizing the killing of millions of innocent Iraqis, "No cause justifies the killing of innocent life."

George W. Bush Penning Book on Presidential Decisions

So The Decider is writing a book all by himself. Right. I’m sure we’ll all be bedazzled by his eloquent prose as he tries to lie his way through the past eight years.

Natasha Richardson, 45, Dies After Ski Accident

Heartbreaking. Just heartbreaking. My deepest sympathies are with the Redgrave and Neeson families who have lost this lovely, shining star.

As serious as this economic downturn is, are we overreacting?

On CNN three days ago, Dick Cheney, the eternal perpetrator of fear and loathing, had the audacity to claim that "he worried that the administration was using the economic crisis to justify an expansion of federal intervention." What a complete fool this man is. Under whose administration were unlimited, unprecedented powers given and exercised? Not the Obama administration, that’s for certain. Cheney should be expelled from the U.S. for his determination to bring this country down. I think the man is pure evil, and Bush was the most ignorant, greedy president in U.S. history. We should hold those two accountable for the mess we’re in today, and that’s not overreacting!

What is the best present you have ever received?

My life has been filled with gifts, some tangible, but the best have been my family. My parents gave me the gift of security - the knowledge that I was loved and that I could accomplish whatever I worked hard to achieve. They gave me freedom, too, to explore my child’s world, and I’m eternally grateful to them for their trust in me.

Like so many of us, I count my children and grandchildren as my greatest gifts. All five of my children, biological and adopted, plus my sweet foster daughter, have been and still are priceless gifts. They have challenged my intellect and ingenuity; they have given me reasons to cry but more reasons to laugh; they have demonstrated kindness in hundreds of ways; they have lent support to one another and to me in difficult and tragic times; they have done things and gone places I would never have predicted for them; and, they have brought the most wonderful babies into the world, cuddly babies who grew into delightful children, and who are so rapidly becoming fascinating young adults. I am amazed and entertained and blessed by all of my children and grandchildren - they are gifts that augment the zest and joy in my life.

Joan, thank you for sharing this beautiful story.

What is the best present you have ever received?

Frannie - What a treasure your son’s poem is, so full of love for you put in his own wonderful words. I know how much you love your family, and this is just one more example of what a great mom you are.

'Brain-Dead' Natasha Richardson - Family, Friends Prepare for Worst, Fans Hope for Best

I’ve yet to see an announcement by a family member or a doctor regarding Ms. Richardson’s exact condition. Until we hear differently, it is presumptive to use the term "brain dead." I’m not unrealistic about the severity of head injuries, and this sounds very serious, but can we just take a breath and wait and give this woman a bit of dignity?
