Jane Wagner: A Family Divided

Growing up in Harlem NY which seemed a different city unto itself… As a child while going downtown to 34th street to go to Conway’s (stop laughing), I would notice that the buses would run on 34th street and several streets east to west.  Now, when walking on 34th street there is not one bus going up and down Park Avenue.  No bus, No trains….Nothing!.   I asked my mother about that and she stated that the people that live on Park Avenue have enough money to decide whether or not they want the noise in their Neighborhood.   That shocked the bejesus out of me.  So, you have enough money to decide what noise that you have in your neighborhood.   This incident was the first time that I realized that there is a "CLASS" system in this country!   SMH!!!!

Liz Smith on Health Care: 'I'm for Public Option'

My problem is that I have a pre-existing condition (Diabetes and Neuropathy).  it is sad that when I could work that I had to have the owner of the company call the insurance company and request that i get health insurance… If he did not call them than health insurance for me would be non-existant.   If and when I go back to work, I want to see what the outcome is going to be.    Medicaid seems to be the most decent health care at the moment for people with no health coverage.

What passage or passages from a book, poem, short story or other literary work moved you so much that you've never forgotten it?

The one poem that has always been in my mind from the first time that I heard it is "Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair" By Langston Hughes

Unemployed Husband on the Loose at Home, by Julie Morgenstern

When my husband could not work for a short period of time and I was working 2 full time jobs, the role reversal worked for us. I have one of those husbands that happen to cook and clean WELL. It felt good to come home as tired as I was, and know that dinner was done and the kids were taken care of by their father. Sometimes it was rough for us but we made it work. In some instances even when there is a 2 parent home, the mother is still the core parent. It feels and looks good to see the sensitive side of our husbands with their children.

American Journalists Euna Lee and Laura Ling Freed From North Korea During Bill Clinton's Visit! (UPDATE)

All I can say about Bill Clinton is WHAT A MAN, WHAT A MAN, WHAT A MIGHTY GOOD MAN!  Need I say more?

The Facebook Problem, by Yvette Nicole Brown

I have a FaceBook account and it has been a blessing to me.  I have re-connected with people that I have’nt seen for more than 15 yrs.  We have grown up discussions about husbands, kids and life.  Sometimes when you use something in good context it can be okay.

Oh crap!  Hi!

Dear Margo: Recovering From Childhood

Ltr wtr #1  I understand the issues that you have.  I also had a problem with my mother growing up and to me it was a horrible childhood.   I am trying to get over the whole thing and I am doing well.  The one thing that was good is the fact that before she left this earth, she came to me to live and to see her Grandchildren.  I only had my mother with me for 7 days (July 17-24 2003).  I recommend that you should put everything aside and deal with it.  I would have felt much worst if we would have never made amends.  Remember that when she is gone, you will never have the chance to say what you want to say.

Ltr wtr#2  What your family is doing is not the Christian way or human way for that matter.  I have to let you know that if any of my children are gay or lesbian, it is okay with me.  The lord says "ye shall not judge".  That is your child, come hell or high water.  So hang in there girlfriend.  I’ll come!

LIZ SMITH FLASH! Old Joe Jackson Thinking Showbiz for Paris?

Because he has been ridiculed all of his life…  enough is enough..  People have something to say about him, his family, his children, his money.  enough is enough

LIZ SMITH FLASH! Old Joe Jackson Thinking Showbiz for Paris?

Even if as you stated that was amended, this country still does not recognize Black people as equal.  No where.  I believe that Obama is the best man for the job because he is coming from a different perspective and not the GOOD OLE BOYS NETWORK that we had to endure for the last 8 years.   If you have not walked in my shoes as a Black person in this country, you will NEVER understand.

LIZ SMITH FLASH! Old Joe Jackson Thinking Showbiz for Paris?

It may be a fact, but does ridiculing them make it any better.  Good comes with bad in every situation but people are going after him with avengence.

And there i where the problems lye.   It was his life, not ours to judge it!

My argument with the constitution is that a Black Man is 3/5 of a man.  It has never been changed, that is what my argument with it is.  This country elected a Black President because he happens to be the best man for the job, not because he is Black. Let’s be honest.
