What are the three dumbest things you spend money on?

Stationery is my weakness. I have cards for every occasion but lately I use e-mail to contact friends. I can share if you need some. Contact me. Joan Mullaney

Life in the Little Lane: Edith Ann on Having a Tantrum

Edith Ann, my advice is this: Count very slowly to 10. As the numbers get higher let your voice become louder. Everyone knows what’s coming and they should clear the room by the time you reach 10. It saves you from using your voice too much and you get your point across. For most of it though, it doesn’t pay to get up on your hind legs, so to speak, and yell in someone’s face. Counting gets the point across and you maintain your little ladylike reputation. Joan Mullaney

Diane von Furstenberg: 'Fear is Not an Option'

As a Catholic, I’m attending a Retreat. The priest starts the one hour talk with, “You are God’s delight.” He also said not to fear and he gave us this short prayer: Lord, help me to know the truth about myself no matter how beautiful it is. I think it goes with Diane’s thoughts. No fear, especially of your own strength. I feel empowered by these words. Thanks. Joan Mullaney

Welcome to wowOwow and Thank You!

Women, Ladies, Girls of all ages! I am psyched to be a part of this. Here’s my thought: How can we improve the image of women in the fashion world? Okay, I’m in my 60s so I never plan on wearing those heels but I fear for these young women’s feet in the future. And the clothes are so revealing. How can we expect to be taken seriously if we are dressed like we’re headed for bed or just got out of one and didn’t quite button up. Am I alone in my thinking? Talk to me. Whoopie, you are not taken by fashion which is refreshing but Barbara Walters wears those cockamamie shoes on THE VIEW. I was in the studio audience once and I watched her taking tiny, baby steps to get to her chair. She obviously couldn’t negotiate in the heels but she wore them for looks I guess. I’d like her to get real in the shoe department. Do you agree? Anybody out there?
