Don’t think I was bored as a child. I’d go running around with my friends, go fishing, climb trees, go to the movies every Sat. to watch the seria and watch TV. Growing up to many of us spent too much time watching TV. At least kids today can see beyond their own world with the internet. On the other side – the other day I saw three girls walking together. Obviously they were friends. The only problem all three were listening to their own iPod. Didn’t see any interaction between them. As the father in Bye Bye Birdie sang – What’s The Matter With These Kids Today! Oh wait was he singing about the kids from the 50’s and 60’s.

I’m not sure I take anything for granted. I get up each morning and then see what happens.

Well, a couple of years ago I had some health issues. I did not completely believe what the doctors told me, but did take the medicine they prescribed. (They seemed to keep guessing) I would told anyone who would listen my symptoms. I even spoke to my chiropractor! She found out what was wrong with me. After 60 days my body began to feel normal, back to my old self. I no longer have any of those symptoms and no longer take the pills. When you have a medical issue, I think you should contact anyone to truly verify what’s wrong. If I had the list Mary provided they would have received a phone call from me. Thanks for the list.

Why Does Geraldine Ferraro keep talking about Barack Obama’s Skin Color? Right or wrong…. she has the right to speak her opinion. Right or wrong… just a Rev. Wright has the right to speak his. I’m concerned about Obama not having enough experience. But sadden by what some have written on this subject.

One of my dreams is to see a Broadway musical. The first musical I ever saw was a movie with Robert Preston in The Music Man, still one of my favorites. My other favorites are The King and I, Guys and Dolls. Back in the 60’s I would sit and listen to Broadway recordings on an LP. I listened over and over again to Broadway musicals of Funny Girl, Applause, Company and the movie version of Camelot. OK, I purchased CD’s of Funny Girl and Company a couple of years ago. Now I’ll have to pull them out tonight and listen.

Yes, I saw her also on Law and Order. That’s how she looked on the show, kept thinking that can’t be here. Well we should care! Don’t know if this is true, heard it was from plastic surgery. Illness or whatever happened, it must be a very difficult time for her. I hope things get better for her.

Due to a company merger, I was let go from my previous company back in August, along with 37 other people. Fortunately, I found a contracting position 4 weeks later. So far, a 3-month contract has turned into 8 months. At a company meeting today the IT Director told us if things do not change in 60 days, the doors will close. I have many ideas to control my own life. Creating my own successful company really excites me. Maybe I’m foolish, but creating and running my own company is more important than making a million. Well, for now! Using my creative and business skills to build a successful company is what it’s all about for me. After I reach that goal, then I’m ready for my next goal - make a million dollars and more. Working long and hard hours is no problem. I’m ready. So Mary, what is my next step so we can talk?

Richard Widmark was one of my favorite actors. I remember his performance in Judgment at Nuremberg, Cheyenne Autumn and several others. I hear he was a kind man, the opposite of his acting roles. I hope Paul McCartney can now move on with his life. I feel a little sad he has gone back to thinking about his 1st wife right now. But maybe that helps him to cope.

Liz Smith & Mary Wells - Hooray! Have we caused damage to this wonderful planet Earth - Yes! Do we need to take better care of this Earth of ours - Yes! Global Warming - who really knows. Maybe it’s part of a greater plan. I’m just tired of every year the media taking stories and putting a scare in us. What happened to that bird flu which was to kill millions of Americans? Remember Y2K. The media went on and on about about how disastrous it would be for us all. Wildflowers are blooming in California. I’m enjoying taking photographs and seeing how beautiful this world is. Global Warming or not, let’s just take care of Earth. Maybe the question of the day should be ‘What Are You Doing To Help Keep This World a Beautiful Place To Live?’ I just hope we do the right thing.

I need collaborators to help me get over my fear. I have a few ideas, one of which I’m now having a prototype made. Even making the prototype has been a little difficult. A little guidance or encouragement would always be welcomed. I can succeed, be a great business woman, and then help others. I’m willing to work hard to achieve my own business. But I’m alone, no mentors, just reading books and the internet as I fight through my fears. There are so many reality shows where ‘You’re Fired’ or have to eat a bug for a million dollars. I’ve often thought what if someone did a reality show, maybe call it WOWOWOW. People are given money to start a business; the hosts of the show are experience in starting businesses, who guide the contestants through each step. Not only would it help the reality show participants, it would help the person at home to visually see what it takes to start a business. Mary thanks for the article. I’ve been let go many times due to company acquisitions, one just 7 months ago. Liz is so right, a termination, not firing, has always led me to a better position. Until recently during my career I felt so much like Sheila. Wondering how I got this job, needing to work hard to prove myself. Any minute I would be found out and terminated. Even though I’ve never been let go due to poor performance. During most of my career I’ve been the only women in the department. Since the 80’s I’ve worked with computers surrounded by men. Until about 6 years ago I never saw a woman who was a peer in my department. Maybe because I’m older, worrying about being found out does not matter so much. Just doing the best job I can is all that matters. Right now I’m contracting; my worry is being in my 50’s, a woman in the computer world, looking for a more permanent position. And hiding that gray in front of all those young computer geeks.
