Julia Reed's No. 1 Election-Stress Reliever

I’ll be sitting in my chair flipping between CNN and Fox. Maybe a little NBC. Then probably get a little bored and turn on whatever I Tivo’d. Hi to Henri on election night Ms. Dee. It’s finally here.

Differences Between Cindy McCain, Michelle Obama on the Campaign Trail

Yes, I agree it’s hard to know what she is like during this campaign. Although I saw her interviewed a few days ago and then last night on Larry King. She came across very nice and intelligent.

Lady Gator, It’s called jealousy. What as Americans are we all about? Following the American Dream! For most the dream is to own a home and be successful. Well, that’s just what her father did and she is continuing the dream. It’s sad the bashing of women with different views receiveson this site. It’s OK to disagree. Your right the amount of down right disgusting put downs is awful. We need to look at the person, not think we know them. I’m sure Mrs. Obama has her negatives as well as her positives. Although I don’t totally agree with Mrs. Obama, I’d defend her if she was put down in any way. By the way owning a million dollar home in my book is rich. I think the Obama’s are rich, at least compared to me they are. I saw Cindy McCain being interviews a few days ago. She came across as a warm, caring and intelligent woman. No matter our beliefs all women should be proud of other women’s accomplishments. Disagree, but be proud.

Really? “Republicans still do not believe that women have progressed since the Father Knows Best days” Well, this Republican woman chairs her fathers business, who he built out of nothing. Plus all her charity work for the poor. In-between the news about the bailout or not, the debate or not, I found this piece about Cindy McCain. It’s incredible the amount of charity work she has started and is very involved with. Not just on the boards but actually hands on in the trenches doing the work. It also mentions how her father made his fortune after Cindy was born. So she wasn’t really brought up rich but grew into it. Cindy McCain: Polished look to many, but her focus is on others BY TINA LAMFREE PRESS STAFF WRITER • September 21, 2008 As a volunteer for charities, she dresses in jeans, T-shirts and hiking boots and travels to the least-glamorous parts of the globe: Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Kosovo, Rwanda and Georgia this year alone. Cindy McCain is a director of Operation Smile, which offers free surgery to kids in foreign countries with cleft palates and other deformities; a trustee of HALO Trust, which removes land mines, and a board member on leave from CARE, an international charity. Until it closed in 1995, she led more than 55 missions overseas for American Medical Voluntary Team, a charity she started in 1988. She led. She was there, stepping over bodies in Rwanda. Not in a corporate office. Not sitting in the boardroom of a Chicago private Hospital, in charge of sending the people without health insurance, the poor and needy people in search of health care to some other hospital. The hospital where the other potential first lady prospered, paid her $300k a year. But she was helping the community! She was helping herself and the corporation she worked for make money. There’s nothing wrong with that, but don’t lie about it and say your doing community work and helping the poor. Cindy McCain has done all of her work on her own. Traveling the world without a press entourage and getting the job done of helping without the fanfare.

'60 Minutes': When a Soldier Returns to War and Is Told She Lost Her Job (Video)

Welcome to the world of the military. It’s a shame this country talks supporting our troops. That’s all it is talk.

Do you think Sarah Palin should run for president in 2012?

I’m more concerned about right now, today. Thinking about 2012 Presidential race is a waste of time. We need to work together to get this country back.

What is your biggest lie?

Yes, it’s when they go on for long periods talking about themselves, I start to tune out. Unless something devastation has happened in their life, then I will listen.

Liz Smith Is Shy?

Liz, Good for you for having the ability to not show your insecurities. Even more important you made something of your life with all that negative baggage. I’d like to have the ability to hide my shyness and insecurities.

What is your biggest lie?

People tell me all the time I’m a good listener. By biggest lie is most of the time I have know idea what they just said to me. But they feel better, I guess that’s good. I just feel quilty.

Palin: 'If People Only Knew How Frugal We Are'

As an American citizen I have a problem with 2 million going to party it up. Especially when so many people could be loosing their homes and retirement. Money could be put to better use. For me it’s all the same, if you want to party for 2 mill go ahead, but don’t complain what another party does.

Palin: 'If People Only Knew How Frugal We Are'

There was a story on Bill Clinton had getting a haircut. Found this, sounds like it may not have been true. I think the hype over Edwards’ expensive haircuts is a bit over done. He’s a salesman for himself, politicians need to care about the appearance, etc. The original haircut scandal story was the Bill Clinton tale where he allegedly held up a plane at LAX while he got his curls trimmed. That was outrageous not because of the expensive haircut, but because of Clinton’s self-indulgence (and, if memory serves the story wasn’t entirely true either).

Palin: 'If People Only Knew How Frugal We Are'

Don’t forget that $400.00 hair cut by Bill.

Palin: 'If People Only Knew How Frugal We Are'

If the RNC hadn’t bought her new clothes everyone would have complained about how she dresses. For most people good judgement depends on who your voting for. For me, the RNC could have found less costly clothes. But why criticize Palin for the RNC decision. I wonder how much all those suits cost on the male candidates? Why is know one writing about that. Whether you like Palin or not, I just don’t understand why women do not stand up for all the sexism she is getting. Did Obama use good judgement in spending money on an ad that put down McCain’s in ability to use a computer. When it’s due to his war injuries. Did Biden use good judgement in telling people “Mark my words…..we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy”? Is it good judgement to spend 3 Million on what is really a party. 3M, how many people could be helped with that kind of cash. These guys on both sides spend money like it’s no big deal. Sexism is alive and well in the U.S.A, example, talking about women’s cost of clothes.

Palin: 'If People Only Knew How Frugal We Are'

Yes, Hillary wore her own clothing because she has the money. I remember a time when the press criticize Hillary for how she looked. A whole makeover was done to mee the medias requests. There are more important things happening than what someone wears and the cost. I believe the RNC has a right to decide how the money is spent. Then there is this: The Chicago Sun-Times reports the price tag of the fanfare has been pegged at $3 million +, to be picked up by the Obama campaign. Mayor Richard Daley reportedly suggested Obama use a cheaper venue, but was turned down, by the stuck on itself Obama campaign

5 Things You Can Do If You Lose Your Job

I found this book very helpful. There is one chapter just on questions employers ask and how to answer. I studied that chapter, it prepared me well for interviews. Knock ‘em Dead 2009: The Ultimate Job Search Guide (Knock ‘em Dead) by Martin Yate (Author) Yates also has books on how to write a resume and cover letter.
