As a small town library director, this kind of thing scares me to death.  With the economy in the situation it is, people need their libraries even more.  What would happen to America’s libraries if the anti-tax folk got their way.  We are working very hard to do more with less money, and library use was up 20% last year!

Oh, Wow, I loved that program when I was in grade school. I especially liked Spin and Marty…had a big crush on Tim Considine. Then I found out later that my husband (who I didn’t meet until college)had a thing for Annette.

I agree with Diana T - My last HS reunion was pretty good, also, maturity makes a big difference. I think that I was a lot more comfortable with myself than I was in high school, and I was also a lot more relaxed.

I was also very shy in high school. I was certainly not in the “popular” crowd. I had my own circle of friends, and I got good grades, and was in a few HS plays and on the newspaper staff. I didn’t HATE high school, but I didn’t date or party (never went to the prom, either), so I made up for it in college. I REALLY had a good time in college, and the group that I hung around with acually thought that I was “cool.” I have really only kept in contact with one of my high school friends.

I missed your birthday, too, Whoopie, but happy belated birthday just the same! Keep being “out there!”

I agree, Joan. I don’t think that reaction to her was sexist, just concern over her qualifications (or lack thereof) for the job. I do feel that some of McCain’s folks blaming her for the loss just isn’t fair, however. I am certainly no fan of Sarah Palin, and would never vote for her, but McCain’s staff were the ones that selected her, and they need to only look to themselves when they try to figure out what happened.

Give me a break! Considering the negative campaign that the McCain/Palin bunch has conducted against Obama, this is very mild.

This is one of the few “fun” election activities that we have seen this year. An additional one has been a promotion by one of our local bakeries - blue frosted “Obama” cookies vs. red frosted “McCain” coookies. Very cool.

“Joe the Plumber” is from my area of Ohio; now he is talking about running against our long-time Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur. What joke!

I don’t really care what she spends on her clothes - it’s not my money, but if I were a Republican I would be concerned that they were using money that I might have donated to the campaign to “dress” her.

I live in Ohio, and it does depend on where in Ohio you live. In NW Ohio, Toledo would be solidly behind Obama, while some of the rural areas would probably be for McCain. My county is primarily Democratic in the east end, while the west end of the county is republican. I do have some friends who would normally be Republican that in this election might be closet Democrats - an interesting election.
