My Comments (41 so far…)

Did you go to your high school reunion?

I went to my 20-year and my 40-year. I now live about 3 hours away from my hometown, and was really disappointed that some people that live right in town that I would have liked to have seen, didn’t show for the 40th. I didn’t go to my 45th, either - I guess I’ll wait for my 50th, if I’m still alive and kicking. There were 311 in my class, which is so different from my kids’ classes - they each had around 90 in theirs. I enjoyed both reunions, actually, even though I wasn’t one of the “popular” kids in high school. Everybody was really pretty friendly.

What is your favorite form of procrastination?

I procrastinate changing my closet from season to season. My closet isn’t that big, so I have to rotate things whenever the seasons change, and that isn’t my favorite job.

Vice Presidential Debate Reader Forum

I think that the bar was set so low for her that if she walked in without falling on her face, people would think that she was doing well. But, OMG, it scares me to think that she might be “one heartbeat” away from the Presidency!

Liz Smith Responds to Those Who Want to Tie Sarah Palin to the Stake, Setting Her Afire Before the Nov. 4 Election

Liz, your comments were right on. I guess that I still have a problem with some of those who supported Hillary now jumping on the McCain/Palin bandwagon. There is NO COMPARISON with Hillary and Palin. Sheesh!

The wowOwow Reader Forum on Governor Palin

OK. I don’t really care about her daughter’s situation - that’s a family matter. But, come on, how can the Republicans keep harping on Obama’s inexperience with Sarah “one heartbeat away?”

Julia Reed Asks: Where's Obama in This Convention?

I can’t believe that a good Democrat would consider voting for McCain because Hillary is not the candidate! Your candidate is showing some class by supporting Obama, so why don’t you do the same!

Do you think you look better than your mother did at your age?

My mother died when she was younger than I am now (at 61) Before she died, she had been having chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, so she did not look her best. She was very proud of her appearance, however, and always tried to dress nicely, and kept a positive attitude. She lived for eighteen months after she had been diagnosed, which was longer than we had thought. I still miss her a lot.

What one book must all young women read before they turn 21?

I loved (and still love) “A Tree Grows In Brooklyn” by Betty Smith. Our book discussion group read it recently and I found that it has definitely stood the test of time. I was pleased that the members of the group liked it as well.

How do you feel about school starting before Labor Day?

Our school distcrict starts next week, because of the county fair, but many of the other school districts have already started. It’s actually because of the football play-offs in Ohio that they start so early here.

Liz Answers wOw Critics of the John and Elizabeth Edwards Story

Good comments from everyone. I think that the Edwards situation ticks many of us off because he presented himself as such a family man. Hey, everybody knew about Clinton’s zipper problem! So, I can’t say that I was surprised when the whole Monica thing blew up.

wOw Scenes: Our Refrigerators

Oh, wow, I don’t think I would want anyone to judge my character by looking in my refrigerator, even though I’m better than I used to be. I used to have stuff so old that it would make the lid pop up. Then I would end up throwing out the whole container!

If John Edwards' affair had been made public one year ago, do you think Hillary would have won the Democratic nomination?

I was so disappointed in John Edwards, but I agree that the media is overdoing it. I really don’t think that it would have affected the outcome of the primary, however.

HerTube: The Big Day

I love “For Better or for Worse” also. I will really miss it when she isn’t doing it anymore!

Where Have All the Good Neighbors Gone? by Jane Green

When we moved to a small town in NW Ohio well over thirty years ago, we were amazed at how friendly everybody was. We would walk “uptown” to get the mail (we don’t have home delivery) and people would go by and wave, usually people that we didn’t even know. While we still live in this community, we now live “out in the country,” and is is different. While I enjoy having two acres and a newer house, I do miss the opportunity of waliking uptown and seeing people every day. I still get a chance to do that, however, since I am the Director of our local public library and I still have to walk to the post office to get the library mail, and I will miss that when I retire in a couple of years.
