Marlo Thomas and Elaine May Were Felix and Oscar

What a duo. Visualizing lots of dark hair, the sounds of a hi-fi playing and empty cocktail glasses strewn about.

And are referring to Terre, the singing nun?

Mary Wells's Sweet Lesson for Success

Just read Mary’s interview on NY Women in Communications site.

"advertising should make you nervous that you don’t have a product…"

I wonder if there’s time to dream up a tagline for the latest swine flu vaccine?

What is your favorite cookbook of all time? Do you remember any special recipe you love from it?

My favorite story about the Silver Palate Cookbook: a woman /sculptress I knew was in London in the early 90’s, hoping to show off her fancy culinary skills for her fab Brit friends - surreptitiously following a recipe out of the book. Of course, I forget which recipe it was.

After some puzzling go-rounds with this recipe, she guessed that one ingredient’s portion was completely off the mark. She grabbed her cookbook, stared at the cover and furiously dialed the San Francisco phone number she spotted in the window front. Sheila Lukins answered and gushed her apologies: "I’m so sorry! We forgot to revise that!" Then she proceeded to talk her through the entire recipe and all was glorious.

What were the odds of Sheila being on hand to pick up that call - with an 8-hour time zone change - and saving the day? Simply gastronomical.

Psssssttt ... It's Joni Evans's Birthday Today! Let's Make It a wOw!

There is not one big cosmic meaning for all,

there is only the meaning we each give to our life,

an individual meaning, an individual plot,

like an individual novel, a book for each person. - Anais Nin

Happy Birthday to you, novel woman. May all your plot lines gracefully merge.

Liz Smith: Drew and Jessica Rule at 'Grey Gardens' Preem

is right about Maddow.  Who’s advising her, Disney? Liz W, Drew, Rachel, Diablo Cody and Chelsea Handler: now, that would be a nite. Pajama party time.

Liz Smith: Drew and Jessica Rule at 'Grey Gardens' Preem

Okay already. I’m gonna break down and watch the Maysles Grey Gardens tonite, hopefully with my son and a deilcate serving of coffee ice cream.. I have put it off this long, for fear of being permanently scarred by the Beals’ too-real commingling of absurdity and pathos.

Drew, so clear and wise in the way she discusses this role and Edie’s persona.

FLASH! Meryl Streep's Newfound Hollywood Bankability

Meryl makes bank - is Hollywood surprised?   Oh, I couldn’t tell by their expressions.

Forced to choose between botox and toxic emissions, today’s film audience will probably take a face scene over a chase scene, anyday.

Comments of the Week 4/4 - 4/10

Wow’ would be a fitting response to all your feedback and encouragement, but that word seems…superfluous. As Kryssi might say, Jeeeezus, God.

Each and every one of your comments means the world. Not so much to boost my ego, but to boost my assertion that the power behind this website is in our quirky solidarity. And we could move mountains with that power. I hope all contributors’ main focus will be on sharing ideas and producing better insights - and this requires considering contrary opinions. No one shunned, as long as they strive for the greater good of wOw. I want to be involved with this community because we’re known not by how we hate, but by how we laugh and love in this extra-dazzling world of ours. Thank you.

Liz Smith: Mayor Michael Bloomberg Steals My Baby!

…it beats being ‘ate by a dingo.’ At least you’ll get her back.

Jane Wagner Care-Toon: Home Foreclosure

Tom, I did hear about Ada all week from my geek pals. Recently went to a Make event and one attendee told me (after demonstrating her home-made rocket) she was thinking up ways to teach her daughter how to customize her own computer and build open source code. That was the first time I’d heard of such maternal aspirations, very amusing. More so when I met the young lady, all of seventeen months old. Your point taken.

Jane Wagner Care-Toon: Home Foreclosure

Thank you, Rainbow Power. Mucho. It’s true that wOw is being provided to all of us free (must feel like a daunting, thankless task some days) and I know we all appreciate how wonderful that is. Sometimes things go out of whack  - and we’re all invested in keeping on course. Maybe Spring will bring fresh, new buds.

Jane Wagner Care-Toon: Home Foreclosure

RR, think they’re listening?

Jane Wagner Care-Toon: Home Foreclosure

With ya there, all the way, Fefe.

Lily Tomlin's Ernestine Takes on Sarah Palin and Michael Vick in Animal Rights Message (Video)

I have to believe when humankind comes to terms with how arrogant and cruel we have been to all sentient creatures, our hearts will shatter open with shame. Maybe that day will mark the real dawn of evolution.
