Mother Earth Care-toon: Spotting Todd Palin

and to think Kryssi is not a professional actress, she is a real person, such as yourself. (Man, my friend Henry and I memorized it all, kept us going through Art School.)

Josie, a thought. Have you ever received Darshan? (Hindu transferring of light through the eyes.) Dietiies send their blessings out by looking you in the eye - it’s considered a great gift to receive Darshan from a living, enlightened being. I swear Lily does that. With her eyes and also her smile. Watching the View tape, she’s running some kind of soma through everyone with that smile - Just naturally. It’s quite something.

Baby Boomers Beware of the Obama Administration? by Myrna Blyth

A poppycock piece, for so many reasons. The esteemed author is not tuned in to Obama, so why crank up the static? I hope she has checked in here at wOw - and happily, widened her research and reference pool. 1. “McCain’s defeat was the final shrugging off of the sacrifice of the Vietnam vets.” •Just last week, Obama asked Tammy Duckworth, the Illinois Veterans’ Affairs director to accompany him on a wreath-laying ceremony on Veteran’s Day. She is his friend and a highly respected advocate for AmVets. Bob Dole acknowledged her commitment with a dedication in his bio. •Michele Obama has stated one of her top objectives as First Lady will be helping military families. As Geraldine Brooks wrote today, “..that’s a twofer. It’s all about parents and kids, and it’s highly patriotic. But start talking about better mental health support for veterans and you’re soon into the real costs of this disaster of a war, the whole terrible litany of scrambled brain tissues and shredded emotional lives. It’s the perfect show-don’t-tell way to support your husband’s policy of exiting the mess as soon as possible.” http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2008-11-18/michellersquos… •As VP of Community and External Affairs at University of Chicago Hospitals, she has a kaleidoscopic view of pressing health care issues and likely would be offended by ageism, and the phrase, ‘out-with-the-old and in-with-the-new.’ 2. The incoming administration will include Peter Orsag as the Office of Management and Budget. Previously in his year-long post as Director of the Congressional Budget Office, he’s championed and addressed many vital intergenerational issues with fresh perspective and insight. He has written papers on Aging Gracefully: Ideas to Improve Retirement Security in America (2006), Saving Social Security: A Balanced Approach (2004) 3. Obama and Michele are not kidding when they speak with great respect about the influence of their elders and concern for the long-range thriving of all generations. They have been strategizing on these issues throughout their careers. 4. With this election, young people now have a better reason to review and revise their attitudes toward their elders. More reasons to come.

Cynthia McFadden Recalls Vitriolic Remarks Among John McCain Supporters Election Night

Phyllis, sorry not to to have seen your response, earlier. Thanks for following up. The novel is a series of seven narratives, loosely interwoven - The Book of Laughter and Forgetting. If you read Kundera way back, you might’ve read this, too. My best guess? He’s invested in that old palindrome: if humans become too sanctimonious, they risk losing big chunks of their humanity. (Can’t chug beers with Ghandi.) It harkens back to how we define ourselves - something that has changed very little for too long. I study ascension in metaphysics and the esoteric Planes of Existence, which isolates various vertical and horizontal levels of our energy; cosmic dense subplane, physical plane, cosmic liquid subplane, astral, manasic, buddhic, atmic, cosmic, anapadak, monadic planes, etc. And that’s just one paradigm of many more, of other cultures. This helps me open up my own swing. Because it’s hard to measure equilibrium if you’re working from such a narrow range of motion. As we have been doing with Western concepts of ‘human.’ Kundera’s writing appeals to me because he places himself behind the mask of his characters and let’s us hear the moving and hilarious discussions that cross between them - love that. But after re-reading, I can see his range is limited, especially when it comes to female characters. And when we talk about humanity in a philosophical context, it becomes clear to me that woman’s reality has never been factored in. Especially the reality of mothers, which in itself is preposterous. Talk to a mother with two kids about Nietzsche’s Will to Power! Socrates had children he ignored and abandoned to poverty, so his moral sacrifice takes on far different meaning. For them, his Apology falls short. And his mother was a very famous mid-wife during that time - never mentioned. Just more evidence that our defining cannon - encompassing good and evil in humanity - is very much still up for grabs. And that’s where wOw comes in…n’est–ce pas?

What do you think of Warren Buffett's suggestion that we buy big cars now because they are so cheap?

I’ll look into it further - trying not to regurge disinformation. If this is not doable, something surely is. I’d hesitate to assume Buffet is short-sighted and I’m certain he knows a thing or two about making the most of resources. My point: Green solutions such as fuel-cell and nanotechnology are close-at-hand but economic gridlock suppresses their development, distribution and widespread accessibility. Corporations overprice goods to developing countries, export jobs and import products and underpaid workers rather than restructuring their business institutions. It’s an alliance of expediency and private interest. The only force to break that gridlock is US - with consumer demand and citizen awareness. I’d like to be on the side of remembering how capable we are of mechanical, scientific and cultural breakthroughs - and freeing up mass ingenuity. - So many innovations driving our modern society were home-grown, cooked up in entrepenuers’ garages. I find that fascinating, and hopeful. Marie Curie first isolated radioactive isotopes in a shed. Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard kicked off Silicon Valley by launching HP in their garage. Bill Bowerman started Nike by melting old shoes with his wife’s waffle iron, in his garage. Steve Jobs and his dad built stuff with Heath Kits; he and Wozniak started Apple out of Steve’s folks’ garage. And if Larry Page and Sergey Brin hadn’t started their little enterprise in a garage in Menlo Park, we’d be having an even harder time checking our facts on Google.

What do you think of Warren Buffett's suggestion that we buy big cars now because they are so cheap?

And if anybody here knows why this can or cannot work, please bring it on!
