I didn’t like Palin’s (R) nasty remarks any more than I did Ann Richards (D). Nasty knows no particular party. Its universal.

You may want to read about Lyndon Johnson and Jack Kennedy and crooked elections. Both parties have been thieves. We could use a thread here on wOw on the history of US elections.

What drives me a little bonkers is complaining about accents… each of us has one… and it is mostely dependent on where we were born. Some people think a Southern accent makes people sound stupid. Thanks for the article, Julia!!! It was thoughtfully written. This wOw group has put the spotlight on the less attractive attributes of some of its members. The amount of venom and hate and fear expressed suprises and disgusts me at times. Maureen Dowd’s put-down comment in her article in the NY Times about Palin’s flat midwestern accent is indicative of the attitude I hear and see many times from members of the press. Wonder if she’d have downed Palin if she had a Southern accent or a New York accent. I try to be thoughtful, not emotional, in my judgement of the candidates. I’m still collecting information and haven’t yet decided who will get my vote. Each candidate has failings and good points. Its an exciting time to be alive. I’ll be working at the neighborhood polling place in November. I know we will be very busy this time.

I’m amazed by the idea some of you have that Bristol Palin could blame her mother for the fact that she’s pregnant. I’m confused. How can Scott Peterson be convicted of murdering his wife, Lacey, and their UNBORN son, Conner. If the kid’s not born, how can it be murder in one instance but not in another? Other men have also been convicted of killing fetuses when they’ve beaten up their pregnant wives/girlfriends, causing them to abort. Why is late term abortion just getting rid of tissue but causing a pregnant woman to abort by harming her physically is killing a baby? Please enlighten me.
