What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done?

Hitchhiking with friends (3 other females) to get to the beach. Heaven forbid , we should take public transportation. This was back in the 60’s. We felt invincible, carefree and safe. That was the only time i ever hitchhiked. My heart was palpitating for the 30 minute ride . The driver was a single male, at least 10 years older than ourselves. We had to choose who was going to sit in the front and back of the car. Guess who wound up in the front with the driver.

Where Do Friends Come From?

Best friends, arent we blessed. They are heaven sent. Kindred spirits, perhaps sisters or brothers in a past life. Some just love us, and some challenge us, some we talk to all the time, others we can go for a month or two and pick up where we left off. I love my friends and would throw myself in front of a bullet for them. They are part of our family unit. I have friends both old and new.

How do you feel about Iraq right now? What is your biggest fear, and what is your biggest hope?

My fear is that the damage done is irreparable and the middle east will always be an increasing and constant threat. My fear is that our returning military will not be served well by our own government . My hope is that we the United States of America never invade another country again unless we are absolutely certain, absolutely, that we are in danger.

Did you become what you wanted to be when you grew up?

My parents wanted academia and i wanted to pursue more of an artistic path. Parents won, but there is always a fork in the road later on.

If you were Bart's wife, what would you do in the morning?

You have to confront the issue, otherwise you will drive your self crazy. Its the not knowing that is the killer. When you know, you can do or not do something depending on what you want or don’t want from the relationship.

'wOw Friend' Liz Peek on the Dangers of Today's Dwindling Downtime

Idle time is restorative. It is take time to smell the roses. I recently moved from the city to the east end of long island. I cannot tell you what this has done for my total being. It is my little piece of heaven.

What signs, if any, of recession have you noticed?

Gas prices, produce and other grocery items, real estate down spiral all these things indicate recessionary times. We don’t go out to dinner as often as we used too, which was at least 3x a week. We entertain more at home. I get a mani and pedi every 2 weeks instead of weekly. I started to use coupons and stock up on things when they are on sale, especially paper towel and toilet tissue. I’m on the east end of ny where everything is always more even before the recession, so now things are even higher.

What Happens to Us After We Die?

I haven’t a clue. I could believe that as taught as children we go to heaven (if we have been good) and continue on in a ectastically peaceful soul state. If we have been bad and go to hell we burn baby burn. Some say our karma dictates our end. Are we reincarnated as an animal, or lowly bug or another human? Some believe that we all get to heaven but are placed on different levels depending on what lessons we learned while we were on earth. We read and hear of near death experiences and the light we are drawn to and how absolutely peaceful it is. When i meet my end, hopefully, wowowow will still be here and I will definitely write to you and let all of you know, that is if i can get away from the cloud im sitting on eating Philadelphia cream cheese on an everything bagel.

Which of these five women has the thickest skin?

Its a toss up for me between Condie Rice and Martha Stewart. Neither seem to buckle under pressure. Condie Rice is so focused when she is delivering a speech etc. and Martha Stewart always is able to keep a stiff upper lip.

'Trust Your Gut, It’s the Only Thing That Separates You From Everybody Else'

Ladies-always always trust your gut or intuition. I will relay (in condenst form) the reason why i must say always. It was an unseasonably warm December. I had done a lot of shopping for my holiday baking, dropped everything off at my home and proceeded to pick my daughter from school. As I pulled into the drive, I sensed that a male was in my home. I first thought that perhaps my husband had come home early. I pushed the feeling aside. The door was doubled lock when i used my key to enter. As I walked into the foyer, another entrance door opened and to my suprise, it was a strange man who was burglarizing my home and had entered from the back. I might add that he was so brazen as to break a window to enter. I pushed my 8 year old daughter behind me and begged him not to harm us, i took my daughter and ran into the street screaming for help. The burglar had to exit through front door and was right behind me. Thank god we were not harmed physically, but i can tell you it took my daughter one year before she would sleep in her own room. So please do not doubt your gut!

Do you drink tap water?

I never spend money on bottled water. Most of the waters are not what they claim to be. I have had well water in the past and when i was using it had a sample sent and tested. Since everything came back 100% aokay. It was safe to drink, cook with etc. In fact, it was better tasting that the town water i now have. The bottles of bottled water hurt our enviornment.

Are the goings-on within polygamist sects any of our business? Should they be monitored? By whom?

Whatever the religion or sect, if any kind of abuse is suspected, raised, or reported with respect to any human being or animal it should be monitored and handled accordingly. Freedom of religion is not freedom of abuse.

Lunch with the Friaresses and More

Calf fry? Haven’t a clue.

What, or whom, do you take for granted?

Since my dad’s passing, I take no one for granted. I make a point of telling everyone i care about that i care and how important they are to me.

Growing Up, I Was Bored 'Quite Often' ... Today, Nobody Is Bored

I was an avid reader and still am, books were it for me. I was a sister with three brothers and sometimes they didnt include me, so off to the library i would go. My parents both went to business so we were expected to keep ourselves busy. A far cry from today, was a very different parent with my own children, always running and doing, joining etc. Now with my grandchildren i see that my own adult children are on this treadmill. Is it still possible to allow children 1 hour of just quiet time, without computers, own phones, ipods, flatscreen hdtv, etc.
