Dear Liz, as far as trouble sleeping, and thinking of the things that can make you anxious, just remember Rosie Clooney singing "Count your Blessings"! It may sound cheesey, but from personal experience, it works!! Most of us (thank God) have more blessings than we realize, and when we actually start to think of all of them, it’s much easier to relax and head to the Land of Nod.

Of course, I agree with the above posts. The USA needs to get over itself and grow up. There are so many masterpieces of statuary in Europe that will never be seen on US soil because certain segments of outraged citizenry would decry it as obscene. Rubbish.

She should have picked them both up when she let the first one back in - that would have been ample shock value. I never did that to my kids, but believe me, I may have wanted to, more than once. It could have been "one of those days" in which whining bickering girls could send you over the edge.

Amen f p. It mystifies me that Bachmann got re-elected and doesn’t show the people in her district in a very positive way since she seems to be a certifiable wacko. Unlike Coleman however, she was (unfortunately) re-elected.

Well, I live in Minnesota, and I’m so sick of Coleman’s tactics that I could hurl! If he gave a rat’s fanny for his Minnesota constituents he would let this go so that Minnesota can have it’s two senators seated in Congress to do the people’s work - it might also give him a shred of dignity rather than just being the chattel of the Republican party.

In my opinion, the government should be able to take the "family assets" less one year’s median family income which they can give to the Madoff family (except for those who eventually wind up in the slammer with Bernie). All the asset proceeds should be divied up with the screwed investors. Oh yeah, maybe the government should take an extra chunk of assets to pay for Madoff jail time - have them pay for their incarceration instead of taxpayers. Personally I lost no money through this debacle, but so many innocents did - the greed is just too appalling.

Today is my birthday and I’m turning 59. I wish I had the physical stamina I had when I was in my early thirties and a young mommy. That’s about it though. In every other way I’m glad I’m the age I am - actually feel that I’ve a acquired a certain amount of wisdom. I’ve also finally learned not to sweat the small stuff!

Dr. Samenow’s description sounded a lot like GWB to me, as well as Cheney and Rumsfeld - able to “turn off their conscience”. How else would they be able to sleep at night.

I hate to be a wet blanket of sorts, because I also want to look forward rather than backword, but there is the matter of being a War Criminal and perpetrating Crimes against Humanity - you know it’s true. As in past misadventures, crimes that go unprosecuted are bound to be repeated. I’ve had more than enough of GWB and his gang of criminals, but feel strongly that this must be addressed.
