Joan Ganz Cooney: The Downside of Doing Your Best Thinking at Night

Exactly!  I often say I wish I could just stick a plug into my head as my "best" thoughts start rolling out and record them somehow (the device probably exists!) to be transcribed later on.  I’m always so concerned that I won’t fall back to sleep if I get out of bed to write the thoughts down.  Silly…

Joan Ganz Cooney Will Never Forget the Feeling

The same thing happened to me; I was at an accessory counter in a department store with my two nieces ages 4 & 5 at my side, when I got distracted for a split second looking at a hat only to stare out beyond my immediate "space" and not seeing them panicked and screamed out their names — then I felt the little tugs below me and all the blood rushed from my head down to my toes in utter relief!  They both giggled at ‘silly’ me!  I can’t even begin to imagine the horror and dread of a different outcome.

Joan Ganz Cooney's Sleep Remedy

For me, it’s 5-10mg of Ambien and when it’s REALLY bad, I put my AM transitor radio on with earphones and listen to late-night talk radio - it helps drown out the "noise" in my head which is the primary source of my restlessness.

Joan Ganz Cooney: 'Aveeno With Soy'

I’ve spent a fortune using various high-end brands like Chanel, La Praire, etc. and found that good ‘ole drugstore-bought "Ponds" deep moisture cleansing cream followed by Ponds daily moisturizer works for me.  It doesn’t have all the SPFs but its emoilent quality leaves my skin so soft and bright!  Its light fragrance also reminds me of my grandmother who use to use it - that always puts a smile on my face and a smile is what really makes us look YOUNG!

Joan Ganz Cooney Follows E.B. White's Advice

E.B. White’s, "Here is New York," is one of my all-time favorite books - thanks for the reminder - I think I’ll dust it off and read it again!

Michelle Obama's mother now lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Would you welcome a parent or in-law to live with you?

For the sake of the President’s children, I think it’s wonderful that their grandmother will be there to tuck them into bed at night especially when the President and First Lady are traveling.

No Atheists Allowed in the Foxhole?

Do we really know what this soldier believes or perhaps by knowing he would be sent home, he calculated a situation not that different from “Corporal Klinger’s” hoping for a Section 8 discharge. It’s all wrong no matter how you slice it.

What Anthony Minghella Gave to the World

I live in the building where the rooftop garden scene in “The Talented Mr. Ripley” was filmed and Anthony Minghella couldn’t have been more gracious - he actually allowed me to stand behind him as that scene was being shot and proceeded to direct it with his usual keen style. It was such a thrill…! I was saddened to hear of his untimely death.
