Oh God, how I long for the weekend…weenies on the bar-bi, beer and chips.  I miss you guys.  I am in the study mode for my (gasp) PhD.  WHAT AM I THINKING AT AGE 61?  I am going to be 65 someday anyway, I might as well be what I want.  This is the first time I have had to check in with the girls.  Love to you all and I will squeeze you in between research and tearing my hair out.  Rock on!

I maintain that a good marriage is a crap shoot and that the only thing worse that divorce would have been staying married to my sons father!  That said, your words are wise Joan and I too have found the true and deeper committment but not until living out loud alone and unmarried for many, many years.  We lived together for 15 years before marriage.  My love and committment was the same then as it is today. The decision to "finally" marry is a mixture of baby boomer maturity, honesty to the grandchildren and we wanted a celebration of love and life for our family and friends.  20 years later and it feels like yesterday!

BREAK A LEG YOU ALLS!  Hope the script is available soon for our community theatre group.  We need more roles for (gasp) mature women!  You are all shinning stars from the original movie up to Thursday night’s opening.  WowOwow!

308 years?!  HELLO! Change is scarey slow folks, change is slow.

I wish my husband made as much money as I do.  Wow, we would be rolling in it!  But then who would do all that on line banking crap, taxes, home depot week end warrior repairs and change my tire in an emergency?  I did fire up the power mower once, thought my arm would tear out of my socket!  It is all about balance but yes, there are days I wish our retirement fund was bigger.

Initial reaction?  Well, even though I consider myself a very enlightened grandma, I had to read it two times to be sure I was reading what I thought I was!  What the hell!  I’d like to say nothing surprises me anymore but….this did.  Who thinks of this stuff? But here is the deal, yes to all of the comments about our young girls and relating it to old conditioned closed sexuality but as the mother of 3 sons, it takes two.  We can only move forward from this archaic submissive sexual behavior if we teach our children well, both sons and daughters.

Okay, I am….old, but anyone out there remember the Revlon doll?  She also was anatomically correct but less "Twiggy" and with sensible feet, I guess?  I loved her and because I was too old I missed the whole Barbie thing and admittedly have never got it with her divaness!  But now my grandaughter is all into her and so I transgress into the Barbie generation.  BTW, I love reading the stories of "make believe Barbie" which crosses all generations no matter what the doll.  Rock on Barbie and Happy 50th.  I remeber it well and my 4 year old grandaughter told me that Barbie needs a grandma.

Happy Birthday to “That wonderful Girl” I will never forget the day Phil Donahue had you as a guest on his show. Talk about mutual attraction. You could cut it with a knife! Even a young girl like me saw what was going on….and still is.
