The wOw Cartoon of the Week: Job Qualifications

Oh Ki B - that was so funny, and not to mention…. accurate! He has captured the cat’s mind soo well. They’re are “devious little monsters” but I wouldnät wanna be without them! Thanks for the link, it’s now bookmarked…. :-)

What music makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up? Why?

kat… Nessun Dorma does that to me too. Have you heard, or seen Paul Potts performing it?? (Who hasn’t? Really?) It’s amazing and so beautiful! And when he hits those high high notes… O M G!!! Here’s the first time he was on “Britain’s Got talent” : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1k08yxu57NA Seing the expression on the faces of the judges (especially Simon Cowell) … going from disbelief to amazement, it’s priceless! Here’s from when he won the big finale: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_5W4t_CBzg And here’s a longer, even more magnificent version, of Nessun Dorma - with some funny comments from the judges in the beginning of the video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGFXMvMcmbs By the way - his CD is fantastic! “One chance” is its name, in case you’ve missed it.

What music makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up? Why?

Aah, traditional Scottish bagpipes - I love them too Lily, so laughing at you is waaay out of the question! “Amazing Grace” … “Scotland the brave”… on bagpipes…. Heavenly! My taste in music varies quite a bit. Tina Turner “On silent wings”, Bette Nidler “From a distance” & “The Rose”. Elvis Presley “In the ghetto”. That voice and those lyrics.. Don’t think I need to say more. Certain theme songs make me go bananas: The themes to TV series “NCIS”, “JAG”, “The Persuaders”. When the British made their TV series “The Onedin Line” they used Khachaturian’s adagio from “Spartacus”… and the hairs on my arms and on the back of my neck stands at attention! Such beautiful music. Elgar “Pomp & Circumstance” March No 1 Johann Strauss Sr (& Jr? Never can seperate those two) “Radetzky March” ,”An der schönen blauen Donau” (“The blue Danube”).I don’t know if you get the New Year’s Concert from Vienna, Austria, but the Wiener Philharmoniker ALWAYS ends their concert with those two pieces. I doubt very much if they even dare not to - all of Europe would break out into riots… Verdi “Va, pensiero” (The choir of the Hebrew prisoners), an all-time favorite. Ever heard Andrea Bocelli sing “Time to say goodbye”? Goosebumps… The Marine Corps Band “US Marine Corps Hymn” - perhaps you’ll think it’s weird for a Swede to love that - I just don’t care, I do! ;-) Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballet “Barcelona”. To be as sick as Freddie, and to be able to sing in that way - Wow what an achievement. And then there’s all the “newer” songs I like (“new” as in BEFORE hiphop and rap entered the stage.), but those are way to many to mention. One my neighbours sometimes gets to listen to is Cozy Powell’s “Dance with the devil”. Just love those drums! Can anyone of you smart ladies and Frank, explain WHY certain music has that effect on a person? Why is it that you go nuts, in a good way, when you hear one song and then go nuts in a bad way when you hear another song? Puzzling.

What do you like most about the gym? What do you like the least?

The least liked: the entrance The best liked: The exit

If you could be a superhero - one not already in existence - what would your special powers be? What would your name be?

Mellowina Super Gnat - Could you please please bite the politicians of the world first?? And let the rest of us get some peace and quiet?? I’m so fed up with all of them, no matter where they come from. I know, I might be a little selfish now, but there’s just too bleeping many of them. It’s with politicians as with lawyers (not the fictional ones!) : there are 13 in a dozen.

Do you have a green thumb or a black thumb?

I love plants - and so do my cats unfortunatly. Alas, I always forget to water my plants, the few I have, so they’re in a sorry state. Either that or I’ll just tell the plants “do you see the waste basket?”

Happy Bastille Day! Who would you like to send to the guillotine?

Rapists and child molesters. Only it wouldn’t be their heads I’d chop off….

Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried and Pierce Brosnan at 'Mamma Mia' Premiere

N P funny u should mention “Dancing Queen”. Do you know the story behind it? First time we got to hear it, here in Sweden, was on June 18th, 1976 - the day before our King Carl Gustaf got married to, then, Miss Silvia Sommerlath. A huge, televised, show was put on in their honor and Björn & Benny wrote that song for them. ABBA performed it on stage and it was a huge hit! As was the show for that matter! I can’t remember all of it, it’s been a while, but the things I do remember still makes me smile! You know… it wasn’t… well, kosher (so to speak) to like ABBA at the hight of their popularity, and yet so many could sing along in their songs. Werd isn’t it?! If you want a great selection of ABBA-songs, try to get their “ABBA Gold” and “More ABBA gold” CD’s. Björn Ulvaues and Benny Andersson are geniuses when it comes to writing music. Ever heard “Chess” (did it together with Tim Rice) - some really really great songs in it. Then there was “Kristina från Duvemåla” (About people who emigrates from Sweden to the US (at the time-peroid only referred to as America). I have no idea if it’s been translated into English or not. In recent interviews, Björn said he and Benny might do something more.. I hope they will!

wOw! Our Sheila and Candice Have Been Nominated for Emmy Awards

Congratulations girls!! It’s so well deserved and, I too, will be rooting for you. I agree with Winery Lifestyle … “Won’t your mantels need reinforcing?” ;-) By the way - I for one would have been very disappointed if you hadn’t been nominated….

Oh no, here she comes again. Get lost, it’s OUR bed. I can see it in their eyes, it’s the same thing every damn night. I practically have to ask for permission to sleep in my own bed…. and then only on about 1 foot of it. (It’s 4 feet wide). Share the milk or I’ll hurt you. (I’ve learnt to share the hard way, ouch.) I do not want my nails cut, they’re nice and long now. I can groom myself, go away. You want to read the morning paper? Forget it, it’s nice and warm underneath me. Why don’t you want me to shred the paper? That’s my dinner, not yours. I’m too cute for my own good. People who say pets don’t think, do not have pets of their own. One can see the wheels turning…the pets are always up to something, I get worried when it gets quiet in the flat. Always have to check on them - usually they’re doing something they aren’t allowed to.

Anglican Vote to Allow Women Bishops Stirs Criticism

Yep. The Catholic church is not big here.

Anglican Vote to Allow Women Bishops Stirs Criticism

It seems as the little boys don’t want any girls in their club. FYI - we’ve had, and have, female bishops in Sweden for many years now….

Doll lady I can’t resist - you wrote “Sometimes the company would hire a new man and before long he was ahead of me on the corporate ladder.” For some reason, Miss Lily’s movie “9 to 5” pops up in my head…. ;-)
