What's the first thing you do the second you get home?

Amen to that, GeeGee! After the shoes comes the bra!

What do you sleep in?

I sleep in my comfy bed with my sweet husband. I can sleep almost anywhere, having learned the art of the power-nap early on.

What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done?

Taking my first flying lesson at age 57 and then flying under a bridge that spans Galveston Bay. Making love in some very unusual places; in the lift to the Observation Deck at the Empire State Building not withstanding; moving half way cross-country at the age of 52 to marry a man that I met on-line. That was one of the best things I have ever done. He was my soul-mate, if ever such a thing exists, and an extraordinary person. When he died I accepted that I would be alone for the rest of my life. As fate would have it, my current husband walked into my business and into my life. Scary being married so late in life? Nah….!!

Whose disappearance has you a little worried?

You want bees? We have bees here in my end of Texas! Bees, potato bugs, HUGE beetles, some of which I have never seen before, and millions of ants! Now if someone could do something about the mosquito population! I adore bees, especially the big ol’ bumble-bees. I used to have a huge garden with lavender and thyme that bloomed every year. They loved Rose of Sharon too as do the Humming Birds. I used to weed in my garden in the early morning while the bees were feeding on the thyme blossoms and was never stung. I imagine that lots of things will disappear with the advent of newer environmental poisons.

Who Is She?

Yes, since the man is an attorney it would be prudent to seek the best legal advise right away for her own peace of mind. After having done that, I would explain what I felt and observed to my husband, giving him the opportunity to explain or deny. After 28 years of marriage, this woman knows her husband. Maybe he showered in the executive men’s room before returning home. Maybe he feels detached due to the amount of work he has been undergoing. Maybe he has been having an affair. My feeling is that this lady’s intuition is strong. There is nothing worse than a breach in trust in a relationship. I think she felt it.

What Happens to Us After We Die?

Hi Peggy, I was only present at one death. My husband died at home in my arms after a long battle with cancer. I did not see his spirit leave his body but did see the light leave his eyes. We were very close, spiritually, and both believed that we go on after death to wait for another human experience either as a student or as a teacher or as both. We promised each other that the one who left first would try to contact the other. I never tried to contact him actually but went through the normal grieving process. About six months later, I was meditating and in my special place, when something unusual happened. I have a special “garden” that I go to in meditation and this day, a “pop-up” entered my meditation. That’s the best way I can describe it. A caricature of a funny little smiling puppy appeared and was gone in seconds. This puzzled me for weeks! It was while I was sorting through some old papers, letters, and cards that I found the answer. My husband used to send me cards when I was away with funny little puppies on the fronts. I had forgotten about them after all that time but apparently, he didn’t! I like to think that it was my husband’s way of telling me that he was OK. If I didn’t really believe before, I do now.

What Happens to Us After We Die?

My late husband’s oncologist had a similar saying pinned to the wall in the chemo room. It said, “Live! This is not a rehearsal!” I liked that.

Growing Up, I Was Bored 'Quite Often' ... Today, Nobody Is Bored

I don’t think remember ever being bored as a child. Thanks to my mom, I was reading at a very early age and entertained myself with books at every opportunity. We also lived in an old neighborhood and were surrounded by friends and family so someone was always on the front porch in the evening, having a chat. We were the first family on our block to own a television but only watched it on the weekends basically. There were letters to write to my friends, even though we lived in the same city, journals to keep, and everything to learn about. Nope, not bored!

Do you earn more than your mate?

Moi aussi! My husband and I are partners; I run our on-line business and he manages the restaurant without my help except in an advisory capacity. He will pitch in when I am overwhelmed with business. It’s a good partnership!

What, or whom, do you take for granted?

Ditto on this one. I still feel that I can do anything that I could do 15 years ago. My body keeps telling me differently. That my parents and other loved ones would live forever.

Life in the Little Lane: Edith Ann on Having a Tantrum

Kate, Oooo! Your idea has possibilities! Just think of of “Mass Women’s Tizzy Day” as a show of force as in “The Day The Earth Stood Still” with Michael Rennie! “This is what will happen all over the world if we continue to war with each other”. Ugly picture but I think a point would be made. Practice, Kate. It feels good once you’ve gotten the hang of it. It took me the better part of 42 years to learn to vent. I don’t do it in public but have turned the air blue a few times in my office! I’d be careful of having a tizzy in public anywhere in Great Britain though. They will just call the Twinkie Wagon and then put you in “The Home For The Very Very Nervous”.

She Lied About Her Age

I had my first birthday party when I was 30. I remember thinking then that if I died at age 30, I really couldn’t grumble because I had already lived such a full life! I was working full time, finished college, was a mother, and had traveled extensively. It felt good! I am glad I didn’t die then because I have had so many more experiences and at the age of 58, I am looking forward to still more! Lie about my age? I think not! I’m proud to be 58 with several lifetimes of experience under my dyed hair!

"South Pacific" returns to Broadway — what musical comedy from your or your parent's youth still resonates with you today?

Loved them all but still adore “Annie Get Your Gun” as I was in my senior year high-school production. I was A Capella choir for 4 years and we also did “Where’s Charley?” and Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Trial by Jury”. Those were the days! I do get chills whenever I hear anything from “Phantom” as it was my late husband’s favorite and he would actually cry during the overture. That man had music in his soul! I still love musicals and wish there were more repros of the oldies!
