No,Lise, I appreciate your perspective..in fact I have been telling people…put aside the individual candidates and look at the isssues..which ones, I ask them, are important to you: the war? the economy? veterans? then see how will be best for you, your family, our country…if they did..they would pick Obama,,,,for the “greater good” They would be surprised veterans organizations give Obama MUCH higher marks than McCain (DAV..Disabled American Vets..a charity I support..gives Obama 89%, McCain 34% Thanks for your input!!!

OE.. I applaud your post…,so very well said…..and all the information supplied ..it contained many things I have been trying to tell people about McCain. He is a master manipulator and can be downright mean. Headlines often have “McCain vows…change/to cross party lines/etc Except he has made vows before that he has broken…and does no one remember the Keating 5 scandal??? Wow..Whoopi, you have nailed it! I watched the speech…tired to figure out why it bothered me so much..then I realized..she was plain ol’ NOT NICE! I heard as you put it “meanness and snideness” and it lacked substance. It was “full of sound and fury ,signifying nothing” to quote the Bard. the first poster had this important bit of information for us :”extremely simple view of the world and is harshly judgmental and intolerant of those who do not follow her tight right-wing agenda. I don’t even think she has ever been abroad” (actually she has been, once, to Kuwait..I have been abroad more than she has) this is one of my complaints about McCain, he is nasty (and there is plenty to back that up:google his anger issues) I do not want them representing the USA, I want someone who will be diplomatic and compassionate..someone like say…Obama and Biden. As someone else noted the “My way or the highway” attitude..both Palin and McCain..research what they do when someone crosses them! Ok..another reason I love Whoppi: she loves children’s books just like I do! Thanks for some new ideas. I am a grandma now, but since my Aunt Pat started giving me the Mary Poppins and Winnie the Pooh books when I was a kid, I have collected children’s books. And I shared that love with first, my own kids, and now my grandkids. As a HS Spanish teacher, I used the Spanish translations of books they knew in English. And although I appreciate Amazon.com, i do love a book store. We have a really nice one here in Sullivan Co,NY “Hamish and Henry” (Debra Winger just did a book signing!) For young children I can recommend “The Monster at the End of the Book”, with Sesame Street character Grover. My daughter (now in her 20’s) and I are also fans of the Harry Potter books, another Scholastic publication. My granddaughter,4, has already asked me to read books to her in Spanish and English!! There are some cute bilingual books out there. Anyway, Whoopi…you are amazing…see you on the View!
