I think Chuck Schumer is great, he’s my senator..I follow him on the issues. Does anyone else think a mother of a 5 mo old might make a very distracted VP? what does it tell me about her family values?? mommy’s career is more important

My first thought was “Oh My God He has selected Megan Mullally!” (her “Karen Walker” character from the “Will and Grace” show) After I found out more, I was not reassured. The man is 72 with 4 bouts of cancer behind him. The odds of this woman becoming president are pretty high. Everything I have read so far tells me she is ill prepared to be vice president, let alone president. If a McCain presidency scared me before, this has only intensified it. It seems a gimmick to me, as to somehow trick women into voting for him. I have news for him: do not underestimate the intelligence of women: we will not vote for her simply for her gender. When I see them on TV, I think it is a skit from “Saturday Night Live”, they have a surreal look to them. I hope this gives more people insight into the type of poor judgement he has,his attempts to manipulate

hmm..”not like us”? I have found that “like-minded people” do not necessarily look alike. As I was explaining to my students the movement of peoples around the globe over time, I said “Now that they have DNA they can trace all people back to one woman in Africa” So a student asked if that meant we were all black! I said “yes, just some of us are lighter than others!”

I have a number of people I write to regularly, here and abroad: Germany, Sri Lanka, Australia , England. I like to use interesting stationery and stamps. Lately I have been making my own notecards from old photos. Some of these correspondences have been going on for over 20 years. I have learned a lot, it is more personal than email. Like Frannie Em said: “a present in the mail”
