'When I grow up ... ' When did you decide upon your career?

Hi Frannie, Most of the year we have excellent weather, the months to avoid are second half of December, January. February & first half of march. The summer here is very hot & humid & in a huge city like this one you feel it badly. INMO best months are April/May/June & September/October & November, that’s when you get the best weather & the cultural life of the city is in full swing + the polo season+the soccer season if you have men in your party these last 2 things will be a draw.

Zavals??? You were right on my friend!!! One of the best places in town……

Yes, I would have loved to be a diplomat…… I’ll tell you what happened, just a sample of south american stupidity. The year I graduated, it was so messy in Argentina that I was dispatched to Europe for about 6 months. In the middle of my trip, I was supposed to spend Xmas & New Year at the home of one of our Ambassadors in Europe, a sort of relative- I went & after what I saw & heard during my 2-week stay, I decided not to apply to our Foreign Office Institute. Had I followed the natural course of events, I might have been one of the many casualties that happened the following year. He, the Ambassador, saved my life, he knew I would be in danger. I have been forever grateful to him, and as he is still alive & kicking we can still share the good feelings.

Have you ever searched for your first love online?

Oh dear!!! How could you offend me!!! No. You should know by now we aim to please. Welcoming foreigners is a cherished trait but I understand sometimes foreigners don’t get the vibe fm the beginning. I¡m glad you had a good time . And, you were lucky, you know, the city was hellish just before Xmas, but I guessed after such a chaos we needed a break, & voila!!! there it was, an empty Buenos Aires for the enjoyment of the many “gringos”. Such a fantastic country, such a lousy political history, shame on us!!! Keep in touch XOXO Moi

Tricky question. Since I was a child I said I was going to be a diplomat. I learned all the languages, I graduated in Political Science & Foreign Relations, and then, as luck would have it, because of a peculiar twist in my country political situation, I switched to tourism. And, you know what, it was a blessing. I had the most exciting career & it was all for the best.

Ann Coulter??? LOL !!!! Really, there you are she- devil, up to your old tricks. Let’s make a deal: some years fm now, in our old age, we’ll make a round the world cruise (to check on the hunky sailors, while exchanging notes on former lovers!!!) To be a shameless old lady is one of my goals. What about you????

Have you ever searched for your first love online?

I’m so glad to hear that!!! So you all caught the bug, I mean the “porteño “bug, it seems there are lots of foreigners who do!!! Anyway, I wished you had contacted me, even though -as a true porteña- I was out of town on those dates, but a phone call would have been nice. You have to learn that when an argie says contact me is for real ( su casa es mi casa. etc, etc….) Next time, for sure!!!! By the by, I am a certified travel agent, but I don’t do “incoming”, that means domestic tourism (my choice, I’ve done it for years but it does not ring a bell nowadays!!!), so whatever I offer to do for any of you is “off the record”). Pls do tell us yr experiences some day, sometimes is helpful to see yr hometown fm the point of view of a “virgin” tourist. guessed yr mom might have enjoyed my dad’s company, the guy is a charmer…….

I am wondering too. She never contacted me, a real pity. Anyway, nothing outrageous has happened to any tourist from the US so let’s hope for the best. Perhaps they had a real good time & stayed longer????

Well, well, aren’t we all a tad nosy??? In my case, it’s worked in reverse as well.As I’ve been married twice & had many “novios” (eat yr heart out dear Carmel!!! -just kidding-, you know my impish sense of humour. Anyway, these former “swains” (who is counting??’) use to show up on the cyberspace, it is really hilarious when around my birthday or Xmas time, they show up in a lineup on my screen …….So good for my ego, n’est pas???

What is brand-new in your life?

Nothing yet, but always hopeful……

Celebrate! What are you doing for New Year's Eve? What do you wish you were doing?

Feliz año for you too!!! I sincerely hope 2009 will see a change for the better in my homeland, our downturn in the last years has been rather terrifying. I regret what happened to your sister which has become a common occurrence in BA, there is a lot or violence most of the time senseless due to poverty & widespread drug abuse, a lethal combination. As Obama said, it’s going to get much worse until it gets better. It is rather sad to live always on the defensive, you know how naturally trustful southamericans are. Let’s hope for the best!! A warm embrace to you!!

Another Christmas been and gone. Today is …

Time to enjoy the great outdoors & do a lot of swimming to get rid of the extra carbs. It is very hot down here in Argentina, so being out of the city has been a plus.
