There is a big one: trying to eradicate from my psyche a sort of sneaking feeling that says all the best things in life I’ve already had (you know, the”been there, done that syndrome”) & the future will never be as interesting. First, your Hotel is located about 3 blocks from the House of Parliament (Congreso in Spanish), that’s the name of the “hood”, pretty active in daytime with picketeers/political riots & assorted activists. Come the night, is sort of no man’s land even though you are quite close to Corrientes Avenue of tango fame. I’d rather have you living somewhere else. Now, our “Presidenta” decided today to give some extra days off around Xmas to appease the masses. Now, for your info December24/25/26/27/28/28 will be holidays this year of the Lord 2008. Needless to say the city will be almost empty. But do not despair!!! I’ve been told there are many “aussies” coming thanks to a new non stop flight Sydney/Buenos Aires recently inaugurated. You will not be so alone then!!! Look, if you ask the Webmaster to give you. with my permission, my private email you can ctc me either by IM or Messenger or if you prefer I’ll give you my phone nber & you can ring me up if needed, right??? Look, restaurants are usually closed on Xmas Day. You must take into account that we celebrate Xmas Eve until the wee hours, followed by Xmas Day lunch , rest of the day is rather dead. Most restaurants will be closed that night. Pls let me know where you’ll be staying then I can give you some options for that night. Pls include info about nber of people in yr party & ages.

Oh dear!!! This is a bad trip, I happen to live here. I’m the real Mccoy, a NATIVE!!! Just kidding. Listen, this is not the “season” it’s horribly humid & hot, “porteños! that means we, the natives, try to be out of town for the holidays .City is kind of a ghost town + there is a serious ongoing political crisis -outcome unknown-. It will be a simple affair, drinks & supper with family & friends. It is sweltering hot down here, so it is wise to keep a minimalist approach re food but lots of champagne ( that’s a cherished tradition). But, I’d love to be in the only place on earth where I like to celebrate the New Year in style (theirs!!!). That is Reveillon in Rio de Janeiro, where you dance & drink all night long to the beat of brazilian music, wait for sunrise at the beach & start the New Year with a smile on your face……
