Art feeds the soul as surely as food feeds the body. I encourage all to purchase at least one piece of original art. There are so many truly talented artists around whose work can be had for a very nominal fee. Unfortunately, they can’t make a living at it (hard to do!), but they continue to produce because they *must*. Take a look at childrens art. So free, so expressive, so full of joy and sometimes pain.

So very sad that when budgets must be cut, art and music are the first to go. I’d rather they cut the athletics budget, but being from Texas, that’s never going to happen.

Oh, Beverly, I understand! I have a beautiful art collection (designed and built my house around it), and have often thought of the future. My daughter loves art, and I’m sure will give it a great home when the time comes. I just want it to fill the souls of others like it does mine. Art and music *are* my life.

Absolutely agree regarding Joan Rivers and Priscilla Presley. How sad that they have become caricatures of themselves by seeking eternal youth through plastic surgery. They just look scary and pathetic to me. I much prefer the age appropriate beauty that is Dame Judy Dench or the exquisite Helen Mirren! In this photo collection, we see the extremes. I love that you do for yourself, Candace. That’s a hard thing to do, I think. So easy to put everyone else first. This year, I’m going to do for me, starting with a trip to the McDonald Observatory to see the stars! I will have books on cd from the library, of course. ; )

I obtained my first library card at age 6, the youngest one could apply. 52, almost 53, years later, it’s still one of my most precious possessions. These days, however, it’s often books on cd. That way I don’t waste a moment in the car.
