The Cost of Looking Good on the Campaign Trail for Palin? $150K

I don’t care where the clothes for Governor Palin and money for them came from. That’s like worrying about a hangnail when the diagnosis is terminal illness. BUT, I do take issue with outfitting her family. She is the nominee, not her husband and children. They need to pay their own way. Just imagine the fallout if the Obama campaign bought clothes for Michelle or the daughters. As for her charging children’s travel and accommodations to the state of Alaska, I’m appalled and disgusted. How hypocritical can one be? I hope that the people of Alaska will demand that she reimburse the state for those frivolous expenses. Apparently many of the event coordinators have said that the children were NOT invited and not expected until they just showed up. Real nice, Sarah! Didn’t you learn that only those whose names are on the invitation are actually invited? The skeptic in me will believe the clothes will go to charity after it happens.

Margo Howard: Will Sarah Palin Become the Next Jerry Springer?

I’m not sure education is even on her top ten list, frankly. The two older children dropping out entirely, the middle two on the campaign trail not in a structured situation and clearly not in school, and the baby being exposed to who know what germs in such a public setting makes me crazy. I keep thinking, if she can’t make wiser choices when it comes to her children, what in the HELL makes anybody think she will make decent choices for the country? Funny, but didn’t Michelle Obama take hits for leaving the campaign trail when it was time for her children to go back to school? She wanted to be there to take them to their first day back and she took s#it for it, yet there is no outcry about the Palin children? Boggles the mind.

Taliban Kills Female Aid Worker in Afghanistan for Preaching Christianity

Meg, your post speaks for me as well. When I saw the headline, my immediate reaction was almost identical to yours. I have not visited that part of the world, and agree that no one deserves to be murdered, but she should NOT have been preaching Christianity in their country. Shaking my head…

Is the Man Who Changed His Name to 'John Fitzgerald Kennedy' the Love Child of JFK and Marilyn Monroe?

Ahhhh, Dona, that was Merle’s first post. Don’t you just love it when people come on here and start off bitching instead of contributing? Bless her/his heart.

What does it say about America's international leadership that Britain's Gordon Brown bested the Paulson Plan?

Amen. I’m not wishing this life away, but January can’t get here quickly enough.

What do people always say to you that drives you crazy?

In other words…”. Baby! How many words did you just use to tell me whatever it was you wanted to say, and now you want to use “other words”? I understood you the first damn time!

What do people always say to you that drives you crazy?

The absolute worst that takes all of the self control I can gather is “no problem”. Hey, the proper response to “thank you” is “you’re welcome”, not “no problem”! I could say more, but it would start my day off on the wrong foot just writing about it. Fair warning; one of these days some little twit will utter those words on the day that Jupiter aligns with Mars and I’ll give my speech. Right now, I’m off in search of more coffee and a place of calm and peace.

I’m loving Kryssi right now! Fiery young ones like her bring tears to my eyes.

Those children need to be home with grandparents and/or a nanny, sleeping in their own beds, going to SCHOOL, trying to be normal children while Sarah and Todd are off campaigning. Dragging them around in all the insanity does not make her mother-of-the-month material.

EKA, when times are hard, the two things people will cling to until the end are cosmetics and alcohol. Damn…just wish you owned a winery instead. Cheers!

A Sarah Palin-Hillary Clinton Catfight? Liz Smith Explains on FOX News (Video)

As for equating Governor Ann Richards and Governor Sarah Palin, may I paraphrase another Texan: Governor, I served with Ann Richards: I knew Ann Richards; Richards was a friend of mine. Governor, you’re no Ann Richards.

WAIT! Coffee just kicked in. Just imagine Sarah Palin & Elizabeth Hasselbeck on the same program. Some Fox exec just had a nocturnal emission at the thought.

I think Mary’s right, except for one thing. It wouldn’t surprise me for her to step down as governor to go for the national conservative news while she’s still hot, and I’m not speaking of looks. Could mean a LOT of $ and exposure, and maybe even a reality tv show. Stranger things have happened. She’s served two years of her four year term as governor of Alaska, and might not want to take the chance of waiting, because her approval rating with the good people of Alaska is dropping. The most recent poll I could find was conducted September 20-22, and showed her down about 14%. Chances are good the ratings will drop further following the release of the Troopergate report last night. All of this presumes that McCain/Palin will not be successful on November. The cynic residing in my brain says it might not be hanging chads this time, but something else equally strange can still come out of the closet and quell the choices of the majority.
