The Best Legs List: wowOwow's Bow to Legendarily Leggy 40+ Women

Leslie Stahl and Diane Sawyer have fabulous legs. But Ann Coulter? Even if I didn’t despise her, I wouldn’t understand your choice. Skinny but shapeless. Hard to compare legs because some of the poses are so much more flattering to legs than others. Maria Shriver’s legs don’t look like much in flat shoes, for example.

Sheila Nevins: Why Palin Is a Great Choice

L/O/L! Clarity is one thing, but for a Presidential candidate to choose as his VP someone whom he has only met once, at a convention, and spoken to once by phone is clearly irresponsible. What’s commendable about that? I don’t think he was thinking very clearly or even had time to assess the clarity he was giving the rest of us in his choice.

Who would you like to see Barack Obama choose for his vice-presidential running mate?

He needs Hillary, but that’s not going to happen. I hope he will choose someone with solid foreign policy creds. Michael Bloomberg is an interesting choice, but he doesn’t have foreign policy experience and is Obama so bi-partisan that he wants to put an Dem turned R. turned Independent into the “heartbeat away” from the President spot? Do the Dems want him to?

Women's Group Wants MSNBC's Chris Matthews Fired

Matthews behavior during the Democratic Primary was dreadful. Sexist, rude, biased. He constantly interupts, fawns all over politicians he wants to ingratiate himself with, and is terribly pleased with himself. He has tried to restrain himself in recent months, but I would be happy to see him get his comeuppance. HOWEVER, his sexism is scarcely worse than David Shuster’s or Mike Barnicle’s. So, who’d you replace Matthews with? MSNBC itself is hardly “fair and balanced.” And to Dorothy Stahlnecker, freedom of speech does not mean we have to have the good, the bad, and the ugly. We have the right to expect some semblance of fairness over public airwaves.

Do you plan on becoming a card-carrying member of AARP?

You are so right. I cancelled my membership when they lobbied for the prescription drug bill and I’m glad I did. I have looked into many of the types of insurance they sponsor - long term care, automobile, etc. I have ALWAYS been able to get a better rate elsewhere. They’re kind of a fraud.

Big Bad John by Judy Bachrach

I agree with you whole-heartedly that Edwards’ (or any other of the cheatin’ Presidents’) behavior should not be dismissed easily because “this is just what men do.” Please! However, I disagree with your condemnation of Elizabeth. How do we know that John told her of his affair in 2006 before he announced for the Presidential Primary? Because he said he did? Again, please!

Obama Is a Force of Nature

I hope Obama is a force of nature! He seems stalled. As to agreeing with Joan Cooney and the other WOW women, my aren’t we all so sophisticated. That said, yes, other events are more important. However I don’t feel as sanguine as the rest of you about John Edwards’ behavior. When he puts his family front and center of his campaign and holds up his 31-year marriage with his college sweetheart as the essence of what his values are, I think the public has the right to be disgusted with his lies and cheating.

She Lied About Her Age

Yes, I’ll lie about my age, but I’ll tell anyone my weight. As one wag said, “A woman who’ll tell her age will tell anything.” I prefer to be more discreet!

To My Amazement, 'South Pacific' Is About Race

Of course, South Pacific is racist. I am half Asian, and the message I got from South Pacific, when I viewed it many, many years ago, was that I could not really be accepted. Certainly not equal to full-blooded white people. I don’t know “hr” how you can say people who have been offended by the movie are just too easily offended. I guess you didn’t grow up in my world. Now I would probably laugh or get mad, but when much younger, I definitely got the message of being unacceptable.

What mythical figure do you most relate to? Ditto, historical figure?

Eleanor of Acquitaine - “At a time when women were treated like the two of clubs, Eleanor acting like a king.”

How do you get your news?

Switch between JIm Lehr and BrianWilliams in the evening; usually CNN in the afternoon; Charlie Rose late night; wake up in the morning to NPR.
