I have been consistently surprised by the excellence of the back-story books that accompany these dolls. And by the way, many of the characters have been very poor. I agree with Bridget that the time to pile on American Girl is after you read Gwen’s story, not before.

I agree. Liz Peek started out with an informative, helpful woman-oriented set of lessons about finance so that we could navigate what was already a very shaky economy. Now that her partisanship has emerged, she of course is getting more comments than anyone else. I guess she has taken the Fox News approach - the more offensive and specious you are, the more attention you get. But why really does she want this government to fail and for Wall Street to get back to business the way they like it? Because, in the end, like her Wall Street colleagues she wants to go on lining her pockets. When do you finally have enough money, Liz? (Certainly not from your investment strategies in 2008. Almost everything you recommended was self-serving or just plain wrong.)

Hello Eileen - want some feedback? I wish there wasn’t so much wool in your winter line. My skin has gotten really sensitive as I get older and I can’t wear anything itchy. I buy cashmere or cotton or synthetics. And I know you like separates but I wish you did more dresses. Especially in the summer, just a simple cpttpn knit t-shirt dress that isn’t too short is hard to find.  Otherwise I love your philosophy and your line.

I’m with you Maggie. Fear-mongering was invented by the right wing. Liz Peek does not peddle a balanced analysis. Even worse, the absolutely relentless comments from her camp followers bloat page after page. I don’t object to opposing views, but it’s always the same voices promoting panic and dire warnings, crowding out newcomers. This site has not grown because of overposting by the usual suspects. 

What about Demi Moore’s cut in "Ghost"? That was radical in the day of big hair. And what about Mia Farrow’s Sassoon cut for Rosemary’s Baby. Both involved very beautiful women daring to top those amazing  with a boy cut.

I hope the Republicans do embrace Palin as their spokesperson. Sure it’s suicidal, but at least it will provide years of entertainment.

While I do agree that high office holders like Cheney enable old-school policies with disastrous result, and the ascendancy of a younger politician like Obama is very welcome, I think this comment of Dee’s introduces a note of ageism that concerns me.  It particularly concerns me because I am feeling professionally marginalized myself by ageism, at a time when my abilities are at their height.

I agree about MTV Awards - irreverent and flamboyant. The Golden Globes are fun because everyone is relaxed - i.e. sloshed. This year the Tonys were pretty entertaining, and Neil Patrick Harris was a total revelation, especially his closing song: "This couldn’t be much gayer/If Liza was made mayor…" ROFL!
