There needs to be some kind of restructuring that does not put the greater part of a Wall Street exec’s pay in the form of an annual bonus. People are reacting to the huge lump sum figures. If their pay was distributed into salary with a bonus only awarded based on merit, maybe people wouldn’t be so angry. But let’s face it, whatever their merit, these men and women maintain an outrageous lifestyle with obscene amounts of money. People have been angry about that for most of the last eight years. As for Congress’ behavior, it’s usually over the top, and then the Senate comes along and tempers the bill. But there needs to be some restoration of reality in the sums these execs and traders receive. No one is boo-hooing over their losing some of their income. Things could be worse. Wait…they are worse.

I think Peggy’s track record speaks for itself. Saying it’s all guesswork is typical of someone who has never met a very talented psychic. Say you’re skeptical, but don’t put down Peggy. And don’t read her posts if you don’t believe in psychic powers.

My husband, in the course of our marriage got me to correct a few annoying habits. What bothers me is that this guy makes it a condition for a marriage proposal. I say Curious Cat should just wait and see if, over time, there appear more red flags in this guy’s behavior. I mean, she really hasn’t been dating him long enough to know if they will be good for marriage. She’s in too much of a rush.

Totally agree, Elizabeth. This is a clueless post of Liz Peek’s. What are we supposed to do with our anger? Lay off the heads of banks? We already did that. What they are now feeling is our judgement of their actions. Are they uncomfortable? Give me a break. I doubt any one of them is without comfort in the way of people who have lost everything.

Joan, if you really feel that you don’t contribute anything, you should dedicate a little time each week to community service. There’s a great site called VolunteerMatch.org which can match you with a volunteer opportunity that suits your hours and preferences. I like cooking, so I cook at a shelter. It’s only a couple of times a month, but that’s what I can afford out of my busy work life. Service is one of the great themes of the Obama presidency! So you’d be right in the zeitgeist. And you would feel better about yourself.

No wealth left? Give me a break. This is called an adjustment, Liz. In other words, wealth within reason. What’s left after a bubble breaks. The fragile, falsely inflated part is gone. But the soap’s still in the bottle.

Thanks for the tips. I am always looking over my shoulder at bank scams when it comes to plastic. And I pay balances in full every time (which gives me a poor credit rating!).
