The Games Joan Juliet Buck Doesn't Play

I caught the promiscuity ball. Then I caught herpes.

Who or what do you think you were in a past life?

What a great story, Joan. I don’t need any convincing about past lives. Of particular interest is the book “Journey of Souls.” These are case studies related by a doctor using hypnosis to regress patients to difficult-to-access memories. He found that clients could not only recall infancy, but further back to past lives, and most surprisingly (the subject of the book) the time spent in between lives.

Liz Peek: Buy a Fake Purse and Pay a Terrorist

Liz, jobs rebuilding infrastructure is a dandy solution, but nothing will be done about it by a McCain administration if he wins. I suspect that this same uncertainty of who will get elected will cause the market to teeter-totter right through October.

Whoopi Goldberg: Sarah Palin 'Is a Very Dangerous Woman'

This comment is insulting, Lynn. “Love It or Leave It”? Anyone concerned about the direction the country is taking (80% in recent polls) doesn’t love the US and therefore should leave it? McCain truly loves America, and therefore it’s your conclusion that his opponent doesn’t? Because they can’t both love America? I won’t even stoop to addressing the rest of your trite declarations.

Will you watch the DNC and RNC coverage?

I just read a roll that said 27 percent of HRC supporters will vote for McCain. Has the Nader debacle taught us nothing? I find this shameful and almost unforgiveable behavior on the part of my sisters. How about I vow never to support a woman candidate in the future because of the way Obama was treated by HRC?

Barack Obama Selects Senator Joseph Biden As Running Mate

I see HRC on the Supreme Court! A permanent position.

What one book must all young women read before they turn 21?

Lorraine, PW is definitely a masterpiece. My daughter loved it, too. Also “Beloved,” a triumph of fiction.

Who gets your vote for the veep spot on the McCain ticket?

Ann Coulter. That should get the women’s vote…for Obama.

Why You Should Worry About Falling Gas Prices, by Liz Peek

Liz, oil prices may be responding to demand decreasing (due to conservation) but why would gold decline over the long run? Esp. with inflation on the rise? Couldn’t precious metal be expected to go up again or is it always historically tied to fuel?

What stories would you like future generations of friends and family to know about you and why?

Hey folks, they’re asking for stories, not self-tributes. I know one that my daughter will pass down about me, whether I like it or not: the time I stepped on her pet bunny. For myself, I think I’d like them to tell the one about how I got in my head one day to dress as a man and get inside to all these men-only places - including an exclusive university club locker room - and got away with it! The moustache helped…

An Economy So Bad, Even Porn Isn't Selling, by Liz Peek

Liz, this column is a lot gloomier than your previous. Are you backpedaling? I’m on Martha’s Vineyard and seeing the same trends here - rich people are bearish, not spending what they used to, and not because they can’t afford it - it seems to be a national mood. No one is crying for the wealthy, and yet so many people of more modest income count on the affluent spender…
