My Comments (1082 so far…)

One study from Yale says that women are evolving to become shorter and fatter. In recent years have you shrunk or gotten fatter?

You still could lose height, as I, too, had a hysterectomy and have been on estrogen ever since then and it was a LONG time ago. Then when I had my ovaries later removed I also started using transdermal testosterone, so my hormones are not deficient. Nevertheless I have lost 1 1/2 inches in height, so hormones are no guarantee

10 generations - huh? Something to look forward to for our future family females. As for me - I have shrunk from 5’3 1/2" to 5’2", but my weight has gone from 118 to 108, so I am slowly disappearing. Someday I will merely be a puddle on the ground.

Whoopi Goldberg on Hoaxes: Howard Hughes and the Fake Paintings

I was a small child when Orson Wells did that broadcast that had people everywhere totally panicked. Being too young, I didn’t hear it, but can still remember all the fear over it being related on the radio news, and my parents talking about it. People were not at all sophisticated then, so it took little to frighten them. All there was, was the radio and the newsreels at the movies, if you actually got to go, (I was in grade school before I ever saw a movie) so it wasn’t unusual for a broadcast like this to appear real to people.

Very true, but I always admire anyone who has gone the limit, as 5 yrs. was a  lot for me. Guess this means that you nay-sayers just don’t like Rachael from all your comments. Your choice. I am certainly sorry I started this, as it has created such a ridiculous donnybrook.

I have grandchildren that I am certain are older than you. I have great grandchildren that are older than your daughter. You are a bright  idealistic young woman, therefore I shall defer to you. Rachael is not better b/c she has a PhD. You misunderstood. It might behoove you to listen to her occasionally though. You might be surprised.

I have a BS degree, plus one year post-grad. I have great admiration for anybody who can go on the earn their doctorate. It takes a lot of intelligence, work and tenacity to earn a PhD, so do not diminish it. Of course, you are intelligent, but there are degrees of intelligence. She is to be admired, even if you dislike her for some reason.

Mr. wOw's Hair-Raising Shriver Report

If she likes her hair, so be it. There is always something to criticize about anybody in the public eye.  Sure glad I’m not there - I’d be crucified by morning…awk!

Have you ever lost your child, even for a moment?

Our youngest son had a way of slipping away from you if you turned your head for a moment, He was the sort who prompted a message from the overhead speaker " We have a little lost boy, his name is Kip." One time he left a store & we finally found him at our car. I then realized why some parents kept their child on a leash, but didn’t want to go there. He caused us so many moments of worry. He escaped in the PX at Fort Meyer & managed to turn the central air conditioning off in that little venture. Another time, playing outside with friends, when small, he again disappeared. Frantically searching for him he was returned home by a security guard from an apt, that was under construction near us. I know this sounds like he wasn’t watched. Au contraire, he was watched all the time, but he always managed to elude us. He was very smart & very curious. At age 7 in Hawaii he was riding his little bike around the neighborhood & again disappeared. I was getting frantic when he rode in the drive. Asked where he was & he replied he been at Ford Island."Ford Island!!!!" I shouted, as that’s an island in the middle of Pearl Harbor. Seems some sailors had taken him there in their boat & he rode his bike all over there. He then told me he had been brought home in the Admiral’s gig, which made me very nervous thinking of possible consequences, as my husband worked for Admiral McCain. Nothing happened, thankfully. I’ve always wondered if this was all a portent of his later death at 21.

This thread is supposed to be about Rachael, but seems to have morphed to Beck/Limbaugh. Neither of them can hold a candle to Rachael, as she is truly educated with a PhD from Oxford, and is always a lady. She has people from both patries and is always polite if she disagrees with a guest with an opposing idea. I was quite pleased when a guest called her Dr.Maddow, with respect to her  education. It is refreshing to watch her and know she is above a lot of the other women "news readers" who look like babes. I always enjoy all her guests and the intellectual discussions they have. I can’t understand why Bush, the elder, called her a "sick puppy."

I got this fab outfit at a vintage clothing shop. Sitting here with my new Windows 7 laptop, and waiting for my Chantix to kick in. Life is so sweet.

Liz Smith: When Multitasking Turns Deadly

My husband was rear ended, while driving, not stopped, by a woman putting her contacts in.  Really tore up the back of his car. I think doing anything but driving, while driving, can put you in a position of not paying full attention to what you are doing & can jeopardize others. It’s getting scary getting in your car & driving someplace. These kids driving while  "intexticated" (as they call texting whie driving) create a lot of accidents, yet continue to do it. I multitask a lot - not in the car - but find when I do, neither thing I am doing gets done properly, yet still do it.

A Letterman Update: More Information, More Thoughts, by Margo Howard

I am so tired of all of this. Just another famous, powerful man in woman(women) trouble. Only this time it’s an entertrainer, not a politician, and this will die out as all the rest have until the next one comes along. You can count on another one coming along sooner or later - it always happens. Somehow it seems that entertainers get judged harsher than politicians, for some reason, but power corrupts no matter what the profession.
