wOw Reports: What News Matters to You – And Why?

Are you a homophobe? Obvously you are when you put down a lesbien who just happens to have a PhD from Oxford . Does her sexuality disqualify her from making intelligent remarks on her show ? As opposed to, say, a former uneducated alcoholic or an uneducated drug addict whose every word the right wing masses take as truth, when  a lot that is said is seditious and untruthful.

The Love Goddess: Brighten Up

I’ve read her book and it is excellent. I think most are deficient in Mg. as it is very important for our well-being. I take 400mg. Magnesium Glycinate 3 xs a day and feel so much better than I felt before starting to take it. This form is so much better than Magnesium Oxide, which acts like a laxative. Thanks for your post.

They live in this large house where each have their own living quarters, as each has a different life style. I imagine his comprises mostly his writing, since he turns out new books so often. He is getting older, and guess this has worked out quite well for them. I think his Spenser books are his alter-egos, along with his dog, who rates a place on his book jackets.

I think Conroy’s life set the tempo for his writings. He was one of 7 children of a Marine Corps Colonel who was the basis for "The Great Santini." He was abused as a child, moved many times, and as an adult his brother Tom, who was a paranoid schizophrenic, jumped off an 18 story building. There was a lot about mental problems in his latest, as in a lot of his past books. Read his bio and you can see why his books are often dark.

Robert Parker has a new book coming out - "The Professional." I cannot wait to read it, as love all his books. Did you ever notice all his books are dedicated to Joan, his wife? A few yrs. ago he had a book dedicated to another woman. It set the message boards off as to who was she? Now, first thing I do when I get a new book from him is turn to the dedication, and am so relieved when I see Joan’s name.

Liz Peek: Obama's Mystifying Message

I must tell you - my husband agrees with you 100%. BTW - he saw his urologist yesterday (who was a Navy Corpsman back in the day) who told him he knows so many of his fellow drs. who are leaving their practices.  He only makes $2,000/mth. more than my husband which is terrible considering all the education he has for his specialty. He does a cancer surgery & only gets $800, which is pathetic and will only get worse. It’s all a conumdrum which I hope has a solution.

Liz Peek: Obama's Mystifying Message

It’s not impressive at all…just trying to make a point. Maybe in the long run it was all a waste of time in the loss of lives and zero gained. The people who were all so against the war in Vietnam, are now super patriots because we have a volunteer army,  they have no risks, and have been brainwashed into thinking this was all necessary after 9/11. Obama made a very stupid political promise that is impossible to fullfill. Just more meaningless words to get elected that will cause more deaths and maiming on both sides with nothing gained. It’s a tragedy

Liz Peek: Obama's Mystifying Message

I don’t need to do more research. My husband is and was an infantry officer in the USMC and served in 2 wars as a ground officer, and is also a historian. He is a graduate of 2 top level schools in the military & has commanded every infantry unit from a rifle platoon to an infantry batallion. I just turn to my husband who is experienced, he is a retired full Colonel, who has made a study of the wars in Afghanistan and knows the futility of our fighting there then and now. The Afghans have not been defeated by any power in the past 200 years The British lost 34,000 men, the Russians lost 15,000 before they decided the futility of the game. General McCrystal is trying, but he most likely knows the futility of it all. He has to obey the commands of the politicians. Most of the troops fighting are the Marines  who my husband worries about constantly.

Liz Peek: Obama's Mystifying Message

Do you really think we can do in Afghanistan what neither the British nor the Russians could not do. especially with our depleted, over deployed military? They are mostly inexperienced in fighting that kind of war too, being more trained & oriented in urban warfare. In Afghanistan they are fighting a semi-conventional war against troops in the open. The Afghans have a history of not losing wars & will not give up. They were considered by the Russians as the best irregular infantry in the world.

I  just finished Pat Conroys "South of Broad" and  loved it. It has been some time since he has written a book, and this was most welcome ,as I love all he has written. There were a lot of negative reviews on Amazon, which I didn’t understand at all, but you can’t please everybody. His book gave great insight into the racial and class structure in the deep south, in this case Charleston. I was glad to see it is #2 on the best seller list, rather defying the Amazon reviews

Liz Smith: Texas Today – Gone With the Wing-Nuts

I’m not thrilled with what is going on, but, then, I have not been thrilled with a lot of administrations in the past either. As a child I listened to my father’s rants about FDR, and when LBJ  was elected and we were invited to sit in the reviewing stand at the inagural parade I would not go as I had worked for Goldwater. I am only upset over the devisiveness that has turned our country into a war of words, lies and hatred and has divided us like we have never been before.  This blog is representative of the great division in our country, as are others too. My inbox is filled with emails of  both truths and untruths, the latter so inciteful in nature they make me almost tremble in fear for our nation. The country needs to unite, but it is becomming like a scramble on the letters of unite…untie..it’s untied now, and that is a tragic thing for all of us.

Liz Smith: Texas Today – Gone With the Wing-Nuts

I am never against anything you say, as it is your right to say whatever you feel,  whether others agree or not. Freedom of speech is one of our rights, and you are freely exercising that right, as are others. I just don’t like negative things being said under the flag of our nation. The flag should be kept out of it, as we all are living under those colors with different opinions…many opposite yours. We even have a large flagpole in our yard with the colors flying day & night, with a spotlight. We also have the USMC flag displayed. As for my avatar..well it’s just a cat, nothing more. Of course you think I sound silly, as you find so many others sounding silly to you and do not hesitate to put them down. If this is removed, so be it. It will just be indicative that your posts, under the colors of our nation, are fully acceptable. Others have found some of your posts offensive too . This is NOT a personal attack on you!!!!

Liz Smith: Texas Today – Gone With the Wing-Nuts

For Deber B…..There is something that has been eating at me for some time now, and that is your avatar. When it is first seen the opinion is that you are representing the country with your American flag. Then read you for awhile and all that quicklly changes. I am a Republican, you are a Republican, but so far to the right our parties are totally different, and you espouse hatred and contempt for the current administration, making radical, mean comments most of the time. I think it is a disgrace that you use the flag of our nation as your avatar, yet throw aspersions upon our country constantly…like spitting upon or burning our national colors verbally. As long as you breed this hatred I think it would behoove you to get a different avatar as we all dwell under these colors, and you are being very insulting to those who do not agree with your constant far right lectures. This is the flag of all  of us, and you are demeaning it.

Just because we’re smaller than you doesn’t mean we can’t rise to the occasion.

Deber….Where did you get the notion that "trailer trash" is used by uneducated people. You are sometimes so clueless when you make your proclamations. You are not always right, you know.

Margo Howard: Move Over, Levi Strauss

You betcha!!! Just like FOX news is in business to get ratings. They cater to the far right with all their scare crap and it pays off big time for them…as you say "welcome to the news business."
