The Smartest Skin-Care Ingredients for Beautiful Skin

I use prescription Retin A every night and in the morning I use an alpha hydroxy acid product.  I’ve used this regimen for 24 yrs. and for somebody 80 I have very good skin.

Liz Smith: Texas Today – Gone With the Wing-Nuts

Of course. Liz is from Texas. Why shouldn’t she speak up about her home state? Ann Richards was one of her best friends. You do know who Ann Richards was, don’t you? ……..Also, why have a lot of replies here morphed into Obama by the few who can’t leave criticism of him out of any thread?

How many hours each day do you spend online?

I am on too much. I used to read a lot, now I read too little. My TV viewing is way down too, although do have the news on as I sit at my computer - TV right by it. I run late too often as stay on the computer too long. I keep saying I will budget my time better, yet fall by the wayside. Actually, the number of hrs. I am on it is not outlandish, as I sleep late & am gone during the rest of the day a lot, so  my time at home seems to be devoted too much to my computer. One of these days I might get better organized, but there is always something here to keep me staying on.

Liz Smith: Sarah Palin's Ex-Almost-Son-in-Law From Hell

I am totally stunned at what is being said and acted out re the current government. You people are preaching sedition, and would just as soon see the fall of this administration, and possibly the country as a result, rather than support whoever is president. Bush was not at all well liked by a LOT, got us into a useless war that ran up our national debt beyond all belief, got too many of our youth killed or maimed, yet nothing like is going on now occurred. I have lived thru many administrations, and never has their been the rioutous  well organized discontent that is now going on. I have backed away from my Republican party, lost my religious belief and hope that I don’t live to see the fall of our government that seemingly is desired by the fractious mobs who would gleefully give up all feedoms to see this happen. Those who would rejoyce at the death of our president feed the discontent of the far right, and it is becomming quite frightening.

Liz Smith: After a Terrible Summer, I Need Peaches and Pixie to Amuse Me

I started thinking about snoods again after Liz resurrected the thought and finally remembered why they came into being. It was during WW2 and so many women were working in defense plants as the men were all gone to the war. Since they all had long hair then and there was a danger of the hair getting caught in machinery the snood was introduced as an attractive way to confine their hair. Then they caught on with the rest of the women as a fashion statement. I was in high school  & we all managed to get a snood too, but, dang, they were really stupid looking.

wOw's Had a Face-Lift (Well, Only Some Botox)

Since it looks good to everybody else, I will consider the fact that my age has made the change difficult, and know that soon I will love it as the others do. Glad you worked on improving what was already great..onward & upward!

Are you like your mother?

In some ways I am, and some of those ways I do not like in myself, but some of the ways I am like her I am good with that. Mostly I am just me, and not at all like my mother.

Liz Smith: After a Terrible Summer, I Need Peaches and Pixie to Amuse Me

OMG - a snood. I haven’t thought about snoods since back then, I suppose. I had a hideous turquois one which I can remember actually wearing. I must have looked a fright other than the fact others were wearing snoods too. Will pompadours make a return soon - perish the thought.

LIZ SMITH FLASH! Sheila Nevins to Be Presented Governors Award by Elaine Stritch

Congratulations, Ms. Nevins. Being a military wife I was especially touched by "Section  60: Arlington National Cemetery." That was so beautifully done, and I think you for presenting something so poignant that most people never see, nor think about.

I’m as patriotic as the next dog, but they don’t have to wear hats to prove it.

wOw Reports: What News Matters to You – And Why?

Deber, If Waterboarding is a "walk in the park" would you submit to it? If it’s a "walk in the park" why did Christopher Hitchens, after submitting to waterboarding, write an article for Vanity Fair about how terrible it was? Why did  host Eric "Manlow" Muller after putting it down as nothing and submitted to it to prove it  was, have to stop after only a few minutes, declaring it was the worst thing imaginable and was torture? Once my husband had his enlisted Marines waterboarded to see what torture was like.  These were just kids, not Special Forces who must undergo this as part of their training. After only a few minutes the accompanying Navy Drs. called a halt to the experiment as too terrible for these kids to undergo…my husband agreed. The "not torture" and other similar things were fed to us by Cheney and his people,as nothing, when they are, indeed, torture.

Business Is Booming for Antidepressants – Economy to Blame?

It’s a huge cash cow for the drug companies. Convince people that they need a pill for about everything, advertise on TV, and make MORE money with the "ask your doctor"  message. It is normal to be depressed at times..we all are, but to convince people this is not a desired condition is folly. I will admit once I took an antidepressant which I call "the pill from hell" from the side effects. I was depressed for days afterwards that I took it….never again!
